I think she mouthed off to the cop - something along the lines of "why don't you bother some real criminals." It doesn't make it right, but I can attest to the fact that irritating John Law only makes things worse.

For instance, if you are ever pulled over for speeding along with several other cars, and you ask the cop if he can pull over more than one car at a time, and he tells you that state law allows him to pull over x number of cars at one time, when you say "well I'm sure your mom is real proud of you," the cop is liable to say "do you have a medical reason for not wearing your seat belt sir?"
