I guess my original post wasn't really intended to be about the forbidden topics - it's just that the amount of spam in the Smoking room has skyrocketted as of late. And I'm no "das ist verboten" type of guy, it's just that it seems like it has gone way beyond casual spamming at this point!

ECGN and the associated community are as much a part of my life as the rest of the crew here and I only wish the best for it.

I think a certain 'pointless pete' is to blame here. Suddenly, he came out of nowhere and spammed away.

Unfortunelly, he left one good clue. I believe he was an alt, and I believe I know who his alt is. That person will probably be taking a vacation.

I respect your decision and your right to ban certain topics, but I really don't see the point in keeping the smoking room open in its current state. The non-stop spamming is, at least in my opinion, far more harmful than any of the banned topics ever were.

i know you said pm you about it but a do agree wholeheartedly with Rc. not often is it that political threads are blown out of preportion besides two certain individual people whom i will not name who just so happen to have completely different opinions about everything. with out topics concerning politics/worldly concerns/that stuff, the smoking room is outright bland. basically all we have left is http://www.pwned.nl and http://www.badgerbadgerbadger.com which isnt alot. i think that for the good of the community a comprimise could be considered. please consider my opinion as i feel that many other ECGNers stand behind me and my opinion. thank you for your time:)

The Smoking Room needs more intellectual topics, such as "What song are you listening to?" That'll get people signing up in droves.

Great points RC, very well articulated. Even without the spam that Ryan says is gone, the Room just doesn't have any spice. A separate forum that doesn't show up in the current queue would seem to be a fair option.
