I have a 9600xt and was just wondering if the Overdrive feature makes a diffrence. I'm very cautious in turning it on as I don't want to kill my card. But for Doom 3 I think it might be good to turn it on.

Does anyone use it here? Is it safe?

Turn on overdrive. it will throttle itself back if it overheats.

overdrive is a useless feature. it increases the clocks of the core/ram so little that you won't be able to tell whether it's on or off. if your card does get hot, it just sets the clocks to default. the increase isn't noticeable.

you'd be better off to flash the bios and overclock the card so you actually notice a difference.

will a 300 WPS be enough for this card?

you have to uninstall the nvidia drivers, and then use a driver cleaning program. you can get one called 'driver cleaner' here http://www.driverheaven.net/cleaner/

then install the ATI catalyst drivers

ok thanks for the help everyone... I have one more question:) . I just went to the ATI website and they have a trade-up program where if you send them your old video card they take off $50 from 9800 so it will cost me $199. It doesnt say anywhere whether the card should be this generation or not. Can i just send them my TNT 64 that i have lying around:rotflmao: ??? Or should i just stick with newegg?

How do you get 6.1 surround speakers to work with this game? It says to go into control panel and set it up. But when I do among the various options there is only 5.1 and 7.1 to select. Did they leave out 6.1 or something?! So I end up losing my rear channel in Doom 3 cuz win xp pro doesnt have a 6.1 speaker option.

Is there any way past this?
