I'm an old Tribes and T2 vet myself, and I gave up on the franchise when Sierra fired Dynamix en masse shortly after the release of T2. Tried to stick it out, but the 'final' patch for T2 just totally killed the game for me.
When I first heard about Vengeance, my first thoughts were..'right' and 'oh please'. When I heard it was using the UT2k4 engine, my thoughts were..'oh my fucking gods'. I'll d/l the beta when Fileplanet has it for open release, just to confirm what I already know
UT2k4 isn't designed for the gameplay that made Tribes great, can't do it, won't do it. Dynamix built the original Tribes and T2 engines from the ground up for a reason, NOTHING else out there does what they required, and that ain't changed yet, from what I've read on various forums concerning Vengeance. When Sierra fired those folks, they killed the Tribes franchise, and they knew it. T2 WAS slated as the last of the franchise, but a certain marketting weasel(you may know him as Alex or Marweas) tried to prove to Sierra that HE knew the game and the gamers..hence Vengeance. Problem is..he didn't know either. The 'final' T2 patch showed that all too clearly, yet Sierra kept him around..must have had one hell of a good contract or knew where some very important skeletons were buried is my guess

The enemy is attacking, let us prey.

Tribes got me started in the multiplayer online world. It was the second online game I got for the PS2, atv offroad fury being the first. I didn't take Tribes out for almost 8 months. From what I hear the PS2 version was only scaled down a bit, but it maintained the basic gameplay pretty well. For instance there were only four vehicles. Fighter, bomber, transport and cycle. Needless to say my boss told me about battlefeild, and one computer upgrade later I rarely use my PS2 anymore. But back on subject, I will probably stick to battlefield.

Ha ha ha, for tribes 1, I would get into the heavy transport I forget the name of the mod but it was a bomber. I would always do bombing runs taking out the radars and other stuff. Loads of fun. The closer to the exit from tha base I got the more they would try to attack me instead oftheir targets. Loads of fun.
options
single grenade
dual grenades
triple genades
mines
starburst mines
For killing people I ussually did dual or tripple grenades. But for a big boom starburst mines. It was awesome dood.

Precision has been and always will be my mode of play (which is why my BF:42 skills make me cry right now). Red beam of death to the cappers!!!!. I picked up the first Tribes about 5 months after release, it was my first multiplayer FPS gaming experience, and still one of my best. If they totally butt fuck this release I will have to sadly wash my hands of the franchise. As it stands now, I would say that the game isn't too shabby. Although there will always be the hardcore T1-T2 fans out there that are not satisfied, I won't be one. Either the game can stand within the franchise on its own or not PERIOD. I dearly hope that it can, if only because the franchise was my first love.

Pretty face paced to me.

You can with the grappling hook if you learn how to use it, i spent last night learning how to use with combo in the jetpack, and you can get across the map without touching the ground in some instances.

On T2, I loved getting the cloaking pac and shocklance. I would always sneak up on those smackers wanting to mortar my base and 1 hit kill them. They always get so pissed! he he he he
It was also fun when I was on the offensive side I would sneak around with a shocklance and a heavy plasma gun, and kill their generators, wait for them to come to fix it and kill them while their repairing them. he he he he
Wonder if that will be possible on TV? If it's to fast paced cloakers who like sneaking around getting those one hit kills might be left out of the action.
