Off topic, but don't go too far overboard - after all, we are watching...heh.

What you think is the top CPU?

This is what I thought, but seems the opposite is true, I recently bought a 9800pro not much of an increase, however i put my old card(8500AIW) in my work PC (which has a much faster chip and the game runs so much better.

There becomes a point at which your video card can inhibit your performance, if your processor is slow enough.

Like a p3 900Mhz with a x800 platnium. The platnium would crap out the p3.

I've experienced similar things with other PCs.

Ya, but he has a 2.4(i assume a C) which is a nice chip... It may not be the fastest, but its not pokey either. I think any current graphics card will run completely uninhibited with it...

Hell! if he's going to toss out his old computer he should give it to me! I'm poor and need a new PC. 2.4 would be better than my value chips.

Well I have a ATI 9600 with 256MB DDR with 325 MHZ VPU. I have had it with a p4 2.0 & just changed it to a p4 2.6 with little or no difference. I need to wave a big chip around to see if it really can improve. I have a 15 ping on #1 and I usually miss first round due to the load up time. Graphics are great. I alo have 1 gig of 2700 Ram. Still slow loads. But listen It's not the load time i'm looking for it's the smoothness I want out of a fast machine.

go with a better graphics card, i think that will help the most... Maybe get a new board with the 800mhz bus and an SATA hard drive...

Sorry but my 6,4 and 2 week old get first dibs. My little guy at 4 is a gamer without knowing I even play games as I do. He's got my first P MMX 220. AT THAT TIME IT WAS A STATE OF THE ART TOP OF THE LINE. You know what it plays the jump start games great still.

Intel chipset owns all, I trust their chipsets over anything out there.

As for chips, Intel are more reliable and stable IMO. Runs cooler too.

Are you on crack? Intel has the hottest chips there are...nothing comes close.

Don't know the exact %'s, mayhaps tomorrow I'll feel motivated enough to go dig them up. You might not see the difference, but they do have the fastest overall chip (not chips) out. Now, for mulitmedia stuff (video editing, photochop, etc) Intel P4's are better than AMD XPs, but dead even with A64s. However, AMD XPs can clean up P4's in business apps, and the A64s only worsen the gap. Factor in the fact that the amd chips and mobos TEND to run cheaper (not including the FX line), and you get more for you money.

Intel chips run hotter... but they can take more heat so its kinda moot... If you can get the AMD 64 cheaper, get that and buy a kickass graphics card

ummm...you'd have to go back to PIII's to get something cooler from Intel than an Athlon......

And MMmmGood, were you qouting me b/c you agree? Or did you forget to type something :D
