Off topic, but don't go too far overboard - after all, we are watching...heh.

Sounds awesome. I'm thinking about getting it with my next paycheck. I too would like to know what the difference between the CD and DVD version is. I wasn't going to get it first because of the fear of getting The Sims with updated graphics and all the expansions put into. Now that I hear they actually fixed alot of the problems and there seems to be more depth I think I'll pick it up.

Difference between the DVD and CD versions:

There are 4 cds in the CD version and 1 in the DVD.

DVD version has more bonus stuff, like tips on using movie maker and managing your sims, etc.

I was addicted to the original Sims for awhile. But then I got really really bored of it. I wonder if I get the new one, will I ever get bored. It sounds so much better...

Hmmm...how will I be able to tell the difference between DVD and CD versions and is there a price difference?

Again, I too would like to know if it is like starting over as if The Sims 1 never existed or is it just a remake type situation?

Its basically starting over.... it has original characters such as the Goths ..... but the setting is way different.....

The thing that is better in this game is the fact that they have aspirations that are constantly changing...so its not just a mundane act of fulfilling needs and climbing the career ladder. Once an aspiration is fulfilled, another is replaced...and they're things relatively easy to accomplish, such as eating a certain meal or meeting someone new. Also, there are loads more interactions with everything....now a bed isn't just for sleeping in...you can relax in it, fool around in it, sleep in it, etc.

Basically they've made it a bit more complex so that you dont reach a certain point in the game and it becomes monotomous.... at least it should prolonge that for a good while.....

Obviously it would state on the box if it is the DVD or CD version like they always have (Far Cry, UT2004.)

If it is the DVD version you will see "special DVD edition" at the top of the box, otherwise it is CD. No price difference.

Not everyone has a DVD player in there computer that is the reason behind the two different versions.

Those are some pretty good looking pics. The game looks great from those screenshots. I love the last pic. Is that kid looking and the flowers or that imaginary "bug" on the window?

Yes you can do that Jeffro, the odor picture mainly happens when your hyggeine (spelling) bar is empty. There is only one bad thing about the game, and really there isn't anything they could do about it. When your Sims grows from a teenager to an adult, if they have a BF or GF, you will just become best friends, therefore if you plan your sim to marry the person they met when they were a teenager, you have to make sure that the sim is playable (you can manage their life and their family) so you can age them both together. Of course one sim will grow up before the other, but if you grow up one sim and the other sim is only a day away from adulthood, you can just have them gain their love back the next day. I learned that the hard way :/.

Aspirations are probally the most important thing, you should always try to keep your Sim in gold aspiration level, when i first started playing, i kind of ignored the aspiration meter, but its extremely important. Also you can get free stuff from aspiration points. A good trick i found out is, if you have two sims that are related to each other in the same house, example for one of the houses i have just a mother and a teenage girl. Their aspirations are both Romance. If you set both of their aspirations to Romance or Social, you can go on forever gaining points because almost all of your goals will be to Talk, Play, Tickle, Entertain that sim, and when you do the goal which is really easy, it will almost always give you another social goal such as talking or joking with the same sim. I think i got 30,000 aspiration points in 3 sims hours, and got a free hottub.

If anyone figures out tricks on getting points from the headmaster when you try to get into private school, please tell me.

I found a good trick for anyone who wishes to keep sims at the same age. I have a man/wife in early adult stage, and if you get them both decent jobs, mine both make about $900 a day, fufill their aspirations enough to where you can get about 10,000 points a day. With the points save them only for the Elixir of Life, the most expensive thing (30,000), and as long as their in gold status, they will become three days younger. If you can keep their aspirations going to a rate where you can purchase enough elixir for them to take it every 3 days, they will never age. Each elixer allows 4 drinks before it empties i believe.
