Yeah FS is more for aviation enthusiasts who like to practice real weather/real world flying using ILS, NDB, VOR Navigation. It isn't exciting for anyone who just wants to shoot or bomb things. Real routes say from LAX to JFK take real time and use real intercetions (via FSNAV), but can be time compressed to 16x while using autopilot. The weather system via Active Sky is simply amazing, so is the lighting transition from day to dusk, or dawn to day. My FS is so huge, it is on a seperate 50gb partition and takes up 34gb of space at the moment.

One more before I head out for a few hours. This is a Delta MD-11 on final approach to Atlanta Hartsfield (Delta Hub) in Georgia. Flight originated in Newark, NJ.

Yeah, I'm gonna hafta go get that! I'm not a pilot by any means, but I'm a Avionics instructor in the AF. I like to mess around with the navigation and such and I use FS 98 to show my students how the indicators work.

But I'm digging the graphics on that!

ToeJam, what are your system specs that you're running that on? Just curious if I'll be able to get that quality...

A guy I work with is such a FS nut that he went to a plane junkyard and bought a cockpit and has been turning it into a simulator.

If I had the space and time Mugzy, I would do the same thing. You can even buy cockpits pre-frabricated for almost any commerical jetliner.

Thanks ToeJam, I'll take a look at those pics in a bit. I figure FS 2004 should run with no difficulities on my system...my vid card might be the only hangup...

Toe Jam, it's been awhile since I've played 2004. How well do you think it'll run on these specs and what kind of details (Low, Medium, High, Ultra High, etc)

Processor: 1.8 GHz
RAM: 256 MB
Graphics Card: ATI Radeon 9500 Pro
Sound Card: SB Live! Wave Device

I never really tried MP in 2002 or 2004...what do you basically do in it?

Yeah your system should run in at medium detail 007. MP is basically flying around, going to airport to airport (practicing dangerous approaches), or formation flying.

:D Thanks Attica! Here's one I took this morning during an SR-71 flight in Nevada. Notice the altitude and airspeed.

OMG! Hell ya! I like that you can start to see the stars from that altitude!

Like I said above, I have 2002, but I don't play it that much. I do here and there when I get an itch to. I believe 2004 will be the same way, but I'll enjoy it much more. Now I gotta put that on my Christmas list...:D

Toe Jam, where do you download those skins from? Some of them are really impressive.

007, only the Delta MD-11 is freeware, which can be grabbed from avsim.com. The other aircraft, 707 and SR-71 are payware models.

Avsim has thousands of freeware planes, sounds, panels and airliners for FS2004. Check it out.
