Are 'Headless Macs' coming?

If I could get a power book that ran windows I would be seriously tempted to 'go pc'. The build qualty on my dad's new power book is outrageous, it's a work of art whereas the build quality on my brothers toshiba laptop is comparable to the quality of the styrofoam packaging you get around a big mac...

The idea here is to have something different than what I currently have...I'm not replacing my current PC. Maybe I could build a comparable PC with the same money, then I would have a second windows machine that is less powerful than my current machine. This would be kinda pointless. I want to check out Macs, really check them out. This is a pretty affordable way to do it. Maybe it will become my internet machine, my surf the web, email, multimedia (that's code for porn BTW) machine. Perhaps I'll close every port on my Windows machine except those used for BF1942. Who knows, maybe I'll grow to love the Mac and make my next big purchase a high end Mac.
I've check out linux every year or so, it gets better each year, but still I feel the need to spend too much time screwing around, researching on getting something to work, and truth be told, I've never found Linux to be all that 'snappy' performance wise unless you do away with a lot of the eyecandy (which I kinda like)
Variety is the spice of life. Like someone said, they're Apples and oranges, they have different strengths.

Heh. Way back when before I was a geek, I tried a mac, couldn't figure the thing out. then I tried a PC and I was like WOAH! COMMAND LINE INTERFACE IS AWESOME!

Interesting. Not exactly “Stylish" as I've come to expect from Anything Apple, but who says PCs even need to be seen?

Tuck that PC puck under the desk and away you go.

But do notice the DVI video port ONLY! I know most decent LCDs come with the option for either, but that pretty much rules out using most CRTs.

I'd still spend the extra cash for something more substantial (PowerMac G5 anyone?). I, for one, don't believe that cheaper is always necessarily better, but it's nice that maybe Apple systems will be more attractive to the more cost conscious public.

Not in an apple... Have you seen the thermal design of the Imac? Its probably the best thermal engineering ive seen, and I bet they stuck with it with this thing...

I used to have a 2nd year imac. I loved it. And that was the way back in the 2nd year of iMac productions. I used to dabble in computer graphics/web design. Everyone in that industry uses the Mac.
With the new OS X (which i upgraded to when it first came out) and these new, cool looking imacs they have now, they are certainly a joy to use.
The only frustrating thing is the incompatability issues with PC programs. It was getting so out of hand and frustrating that it made me make the switch to a PC. I like PC's too, don't get me wrong, but if i had my choice, i would probably have a mac. But only if i could run all the same programs, features as current PC's do. Including games.
And No, please anyone dont recommend the "Virtual PC" program.

As if AMD hasn't had heat related problems with their CPUs?? Intel, the same thing? Didn't Intel cancel several of their CPUs for heating problems?

If anything it's the cheapo parts and poor designs of cookie-cutter PCs that lend themselves to improper ventilation and overheating problems.

If you don't like Macs, just admit it and stop there. Don't embarrass yourselves with pre-pubescent rants about things you have no experience with.

That is pretty fucking cool you have to admit. At 6 and a half inches squared it's more like an external hard-drive than a real computer...

Looks kind of like the old G4 cube (which I guess is where it mostly stems from) so it may hava a few heating issues, but after the troubles they had with the cube I seriously doubt they'd repeat the error. The overheating thing really isn't much of an issue on the mac.

The new miniMac is way cool. I'll definately grab one. Hook it up to a KVM switch and use my regular Keyboard, Monitor, and Mouse. It so small I can throw it on top of my cd rack, so it's going to take up basically no desk real estate. The persone who was worried about it working with VGA monitors, it works with them all, it comes with an adaptor that goes from DVI to VGA. There's an optional adapter that goes from DVI to S-Video and component out jack. The miniMac would look pretty sweet in a home entertainment system, throw in the optional bluetooth for wireless keyboard or remote control! Lot's of little add ons available, pricey though. It comes with 256MB memory, upgradeable to a Gig. I'll be curious to see if theres a way to do this with aftermarket memory, or if Apple will find a way to force you to upgrade though them. With USB2.0 and Firewire, I can add on anything I think would be too expensive through apple.
If Apple really advertises this hard, this could really make some waves, especially with all the new Ipod owners.

No, Intel didn't design a better core, so they are having overheating problem because they simply push them faster than what they were meant to go. Amd processors run cool now, and are on average more stable than intel processorsand on average have better performance vs money ratio than intel.

And if PC stinks so much, why does Apple feel the need to integrate PC parts into their lines?

(Because you can't make money doing what Apple does. In the long run you always loose out)

Also, isn't the G4 more than 2 generations old now?
