He let himself down with fareinheit 9/11. His books are well argued and for the most part rational but that film was str8 propaganda. It wa a sahme because he has a lot of vallid points...
Yes, he kinda destroyed the whole argument. I saw the movie "The world according to Bush", and it was absolutely NOT spectacular: just interviews with ex-govt personnel (head of CIA, head of FBI, agents, soldiers, analysts...). That was way more chilling,

I think his ego kind of got the better of him because 'Bowling for Columbine' was a masterpiece of subtlety in a film that had so much potential to go horribly awry...
Oh well I guess he had his one good film...

Even 'Bowling for Columbine' had it's problems. He had a good central theme "why so many gun deaths in America" but he didn't follow any of his theories to any sort of conclusion. It seemed like he was saying 'maybe this is the reason, ok, well maybe that's the reason, ok, here's another possibility'
I got the feeling he needed to pick one or two conclusions and explore them more in depth.
Roger and Me is his best, he has one mission, and he rides it right into the ground.
Oh, to answer Parrot's question about why no National Gun licenses, America in some ways isn't so much a country as a federation of states. Each state has quite a few rights, as long as they don't conflict with Constitution. I know certain counties within certain states that don't allow alchohol, others that don't allow porn. Here in NH fireworks are illegal, but the state next to us has them legally. Vermont (just west of NH) allows gay marriage. It's a weird little patchwork legal system, but it works out somehow, unless you carry a gun in NY I guess

But the gun thing is in the constitution so licensing would be fin on a national level. I guess all those separate departments is just more fun though

yeah, keeping some things at the state level, and some at the national level is supposed to protect us from Federal tyranny. There's a million little punchlines that come to mind right after that last sentence, but in the interest of not having a flame war, I won't say them.

How is moore toppling our countries "nationalism"? Is Moore bashing America or is he bashing the Bush administration? I they are very different things and should not be looked at as one...
I am very surprised this thread has not been locked, being a political timebomb...

Agreed. If you look on Moore's website, he says "support our troops" and he has charities that helps our troops out. Bashing the administration is patriotic IMO...(if you disagree of course

I love these threads. They spice up the forum and add flavour to it. However, when you add too much "spice" and it gets out of hand, it's no fun anymore. I say these threads should be kept to one a week...and be closed after a certain amount of time.
