No large open maps I will give you, but I do not find poor map design overall, only one, maybe 2 maps are not fun to play(typical of any game with MP). The city maps are some of the best fighting around!

I agree Jimmy, I like Mashtuur City and Sharqi Peninsula a lot. The maps are not bad overall, I just think some of them suffer from having too many flags and/or not enough choke points (I would add too many vehicles, but I know that's the infantryman bias in me talking). The only maps I really dislike playing are FuShe Pass and Clean Sweep.

My personal opinion is that BF42 was more balanced and could suit any style of play. Being a ground-pounder, BF2 seems too biased towards those in the air. Besides, I miss running behind a panzer or sherman and placing an AT round right in the @$$. Or, tossing a mine on the hood and running off....

I miss most of all flying in airplanes that take time to get from point a to point b, jets just are too fast to be as fun esp for dogfights.
I also loved the sea battles. *sigh*
I think they could use this engine to make the best '42 ever, its possible, but not likely.

I believe it was a 21 gun salute for memorial day?

Battlefield 1942 got tweaked over time until it hit a point of perfection. For me, Wake island was just about as good as it gets. It was like a fine wine that got dumped on the ground because a new vintage came out.
