Heard one radio call about civilians trying to grab guns from MPs!

Hey mugzy, I can't 'play' this. I tried IE, didn't work. Should I be using/doing something else?

from Yahoo news:

>>Looting spiraled so out of control that Mayor Ray Nagin ordered virtually the entire police force to abandon search-and-rescue efforts and focus on the brazen packs of thieves who have turned increasingly hostile.

Late Wednesday, Tenet Healthcare Corp. asked Louisiana State Police and the U.S. Coast Guard to help evacuate one of its hospitals in Gretna after a supply truck carrying food, water, medical supplies and pharmaceuticals was held up by gunmen.

This crap is sounding like Iraq. I'm not surprised, but I'm really dissapointed that this is how the world is going to see us. This is the type of thing we would normally say (with pride) "That kind of shit wouldn't happen in America"
It's a real wake up.

who the hell cares how the world is going to see us. half the world hates us anyways. the only people that like America are poor immigrants who want to come here for a better "life" when all they get are landscaping jobs and jobs at fast food joints. and those immigrants dont like America, they just want a better life.

the ones doing this shit are scumbags anyways. scumbags are world-wide, not nation-wide.

I think Somalia would be a better comparison than Iraq. Remember Black Hawk Down? This should sound familiar, then.

What to know what is really going on there?

Fark.com has a thread where people are posting stuff they hear on that national guard scanner.

I don't understand why people are so angry/mad at the relief workers and other agencies. This is a natural disaster! They complain of no air conditioning? They are lucky there are people who are helping them at all. People have gotten too soft and really need to learn to take care of themselves.

These are the same idiots who stayed behind thinking theyd make it through the storm. Shouldnt bite the hand that feeds you. Now some may die because of their actions. They need to stop and look at themselves. They are lucky to be alive, and now they want more. What exactly are they accomplishing by shooting at people comming to their aid? They're all morons. The looters, the shooters, and the ones that stayed behind because they were too dumb to realize they might actually die from a hurricane.

This is frigging unacceptable! There's no goddamn way our govt should be caught with it's pants down this badly. It's not like they're 5000 miles away, they're right in this country. Bush keeps saying 'Help is on the way'
Where the f*** is it coming from??? Bulgaria??? I know we still have plenty of Natl Guard and Army Reserve troops still in the state. They are doing about as good a job with this as they did when Bagdad fell and the rioting started. I think this admin has one plan in it's playbook, and it's always the rosiest scenario. If that doesn't work, they just sit there dumbfounded.

In tragedy and despair we see the best and worst in us all. I remember when I was younger and watching the LA riots. All cause of one verdict half the city lit up with anger. People looting, beatings, and killings all cause of anger. I feel deep sorrow for the ones who had to stand by while looters ran off with their stuff. :(
