Micheal Moore...shit..I remember when I used to watch his SNL movies..a long time ago when he was just a comedian. Now he's a political activist..or something like that.

He's extremely left-wing, rabidly anti-gun, and rabidly anti-white, always has been, always will be. He's never let reality interfer with his messages either, sure as hell didn't let them interfer with this movie.
The enemy is attacking, let us prey.

I wouldn't say he's anti-gun, he's just anti-gun violence(and I would assume most of us are). He is a member of the NRA and owns several guns, so you can hardly fault him there.

I think the problem he does have with guns is the fact that there are a hell of a lot of people out there that have guns even though they shouldn't be within 100 miles of one. The problem isn't the typical american with a couple rifles who shoots recreationaly or even the homeowner who may have a gun for protecting their home and family. It's the fact that there are way, WAY too many guns out there and just about anyone can get their hands on one, including kids.

Even up here in Canada, I know of several kids under 15 years of age that carry guns on their person wherever they go. While in truth, 90% of those that have them just keep them for show, that doesn't mean they should have them. Gun control does need to be implemented, but not on a scale where they're taken away. Just enough of a system that truly accounts for every gun out there as well as keeping guns out of the hands of those that shouldn't have them.

Bingham, the US already has many such restrictions like you describe. One major problem, though, is that in the 90's many of the serious ones were barely enforced by the Justice Dept.

It's a simple concept: make more laws, don't enforce them. Then some stupid politician can come along and say "see, the laws don't work, we must confiscate all guns."

BTW, kids CANNOT, by themselves easily obtain firearms, at least not in the US. I had to be 21 to buy a handgun or over 18 to buy any long-arm. I bought my Ruger last year when I was 29. I had to go through a state and federal background check, which took about a week or more.

The people who illegally use firearms are usually the ones who obtain them illegally (illegal being the key word). God help us if the law-abiding lose their rights to defend themselves. Then only the criminals will have guns, since they care nothing of laws anyway.

ok ok, everything aside. We have many more gun homicides per year then any other country. How could we fix this? pretend you've never seen or heard of this damn movie.

Good question. I wish I knew the answer. Maybe for starters, we could make violent criminals serve more time than some petty weed seller. We could also stop letting lawyers get away with turning the real criminals into victims (you know, not let criminals blame their behavior on their parents, society, videogames, etc.). Police could also be helped by not getting sued every time they pull someone over.
And it's pretty sad when a man shoots an intruder who had snuck into his house and into his child's room, just to get arrested for what was clearly a legitimate defense of his home and family.
Just my rant.

:D

This from the wife of a cop. Thanks Steph for a more "inside" perspective. A simple question: is your husband the kind of cop that would prefer more law-abiding citizens be armed? I've heard mixed things about cops' opinions on gun ownership. Many cops believe that it would reduce their already very heavy burden. Does your husband feel this way?
Thanks for your time.:D

My hubby believes that every law abiding person should be able to own a gun, but not be able to carry a concealed weapon. he believes there are to many road rage / hotheads that would display/use a weapon when it is not needed. he belives that most citizens dont understand the criminal and civil laws that they will get themselves into by carrying a gun
plus he likes the idea of being the only one to carry a gun :) since he can and has to carry off duty
I feel the same way but I still say that it is the people that kill not the guns!!!!

A proud gun owner with many weapons (glock 17 9mm, 2- s&w 40 cal autos, 2-s&w 38 4" revol's, beretta 9mm & 22 cal long rif, and as you can imagine MANY shotguns and rifles) , I exersize at great lengths gun safety, and the killing of any human esp. child is terrible, but does happen. It is not the guns fault, rather the owner. I am an NRA member and have been for probably as many years as some of the guys who game here. With gun ownership comes responsibilty and unfortunately an IQ does not come into play. Idiots have the same Constitutional right to own firearms, wish they did not!

This antigun, California crap ( no offense to players from west coast) from bunny huggers and such is just another attempt to curb our rights!!!!!!

Oh by the way there is NO gun registration in Louisiana and as long as it is not concealled you can strap it on your side, might look a little stupid, but it is legal!

That reminds me, there was some stupid bitch who lived up here about 30mins drive from my house. This guy got drunk and brutally murdured his cousin I think. if not then someone in his family. Either way he plead he was drunk and didn't know what he was doing and got 20 years. I could probabily get 20 years if I just got cought with a basement full of weed plants, so I see your point bucknutty. but you see mine? its not micheal moore who everyone likes to whine about. 20 years for being a drunk murdurer. Watch now, some guy will hold up a bank and steal thousands of dollars and drive away. By the time he gets pulled over he gets drunk and says he was drunk. Then everyone forgets he was drinking and driving and gives him 20 yrs for not knowing what he was doing. From many angles of perspective, such as this one, you can see why I'dd never be a cop or go to war. Because I'dd be standing for things I think are rediculously dumb. Who cares if your a cop with good oppinions and good ideas because your a cop. Your job is not to act upon your idea's or oppinions it to act on the ones with such holes in them as I've told. So here to stephany, ask your boo how he would feel and what he would do if someone he chased down and caught after a violent murdur got 20 years.

Tool first I think you need to read over your post it doesn't make sense (By the time he gets pulled over he gets drunk and says he was drunk. Then everyone forgets he was drinking and driving and gives him 20 yrs for not knowing what he was doing.) ok i don't understand that:help:

And to answer question about the 20 years well my hubby would be very happy to see someone go to prison for 20 years for a murder period, 20 years is a long time, it wont make anything better but at least the man will pay the price for what he did, and after prison his life will still be destroyed
the average time spent in prison for murder is 8 years.

When a cop arrest someone, after that is is pretty much out of there hands, besides the reports, the final decision is made by the prosecutor, judge, and jury so you can not blame the cops for the outcome of the situation they just catch the scum bags and get them off the street.

Cops do not act upon there opinoions and ideas, they act upon the regs and rules and last minute descisions of the situation, some cops do go beyond that but not all cops are good either

My husband is a good cop who has his own opinions and I appreciate and respect everything he does in his job wether or not I agree or diagreee with him
