I wouldn't say cheap, those set were decent, just not 100 million dollars worth.
You couldn't see most of the sets the way they were lighting it. They should have spent more time scripting some character depth into it than wasting money obsessing about historical realism in sets you couldn't see...

Well, we know where we stand on 'Rome'
The Pacific War miniseries really has it's work cut out for it, following BofB is a tough act.
They know the formula though, that you have to have that one character that ties it all together. In BofB, Winters was the lynchpin of that whole series. I thought the guy who played him was friggin incredible, I can't believe he didn't really break out big after that. He made a piece of shit movie based on one of Stephen Kings worst books--Dreamcatcher. It had a great cast, and was still one of worst movies I've ever seen. Other than that, the guy dropped out of sight.

He's made a whole bunch of pretty good tv dramas over here since though. He's doing ok. I'm not sure he really wants to go to hollywood which may be most of the reason...

band of brothers was really nice because it did have its main charahters but it also had small sotries and segments with a lot of others which really makes the viewer feel they know all of the companyc

Nothing wrong with that, as long he's doing worthy material.
It's only fair that HBO should leave him with you guys, we did wind up taking Ian McShane after all, that guy friggin rules in Deadwood. He's the most interesting, compelling bad guy *ever*. He stole the show, it's now like 75% about him as opposed to the normal formula of following the 'good guy's story 90% of the time.

Bahahahahahahaha Ian mcshane we hated him over here. He was in a series called lovejoy about an antiques salesman dealer dodgy character type. It was shite. He hadn't worked for like 10 years before deadwood. I have to see it just to believe its true

Holy Shit, if you haven't seen Deadwood yet, you gotta go out and rent the Season 1 DVD or download the episodes off the net, whatever. It's an incredible show. Ian McShane will scare the hell out of you. He's scary and yet he doesn't even carry a gun in the show. He's just a friggin inhumane hawk.
Over here, he's winning awards left and right, the reviews all kiss his ass for this role. I guess it was just the role he was born to play.

Ok, so your opinion of lovejoy is it was shite. I never watched it, most likely is.
However, to say he was hated over in England is an overstatement, and probably just your personal opinion. The show lasted 8 years in the UK, then was brought over to the US with some success. Typically, that doesn't happen when there is an overwhelming hate towards the main actor.
He also has been in movies, and has been in numerous tv shows the last 10 years, unlike your claim to his unemployment.
Seems you just really hate the guy for being on the show lovejoy.
He also just won a golden globe for deadwood.

BTW, HBO is running Deadwood Season 2 on Sunday nights. That show is even better on repeated viewing. Just hacking through the language and little details of plot is like working your way through a gourmet meal. The dialogue is just insanely great at times, but it makes you work a little, and in the end the payoff is better for it.
Deadwood is my absolute favorite current tv show. I can't wait for the new season.

Jaimz Woolvett (The Schofield Kid): Yeah, well, I guess he had it comin'.

Wow way to take it personally. It was one of those programs that got repeated ad infinitum. It is pretty much universally reviled/mocked over here...
I myself am pretty ambivalent on the subject I was just making the point that you are welcome to macshane.

Well the fact that you bothered to reply at all shows you took my post more than a little too seriously...

Take it easy Tango. Opinions are subjective, we all have them. Sometimes they differ a little. Breathe, breathe, relax.
