Not 100% invite only.. If you have a phone with SMS, you can get an account without an invite.

So what exactly is the advantage of Google mail? I would maybe think it would have less spam atleast thats what i saw on the page? Also it has almost unlimited storage space I think? I like it since its run by google and google makes everything good... :)

An absolutely fantastic webmail interface. Emails are kept in threads so I can see the entire conversation (And expand and collapse seperate emails). There are folders, but the main way to organize email is to use labels. Emails may have multiple labels, which is like filing it in multiple folders.
The code compiles, ship it!

The way it threads e-mail like a forum is the best thing about gmail. Especially helpful if you're on a mailing list and people like to hit "REPLY ALL" just to spread bullshit.

It will accept all the email with the same subject as one thread.
