Illegal car search from pigs?

You might have a case. I'd PM the two cops B mentioned... and be real tactful and polite about it. (ie, don't use "pigs.") They may be just as inclined to protect their coleagues as to make sure their colleagues aren't exceeding their authority.
I'm inclined to think LordShard has a point, the paintball gun in plain view is not probable cause. Someone seeing you load a shotgun may be, even if it is just a misunderstanding, depending on where you live. Would have been smarter to keep it in the trunk, but then, can't say I would have thought of that the first time.
As for the car being stolen, did you not have your registration? That should have cleared that up.
I'm curious about their justification for looking in your trunk and your glove box. Esp the glove box. If someone said they saw you loading a shotgun, then the glovebox should be off limits. Maybe looking for ammo. Then again, I don't think cars carry much expectation of privacy... a cop would be able to tell you what laws apply.
I wonder, too, how you carried yourself with the cops. Often, your attitude makes a big difference in how the police treat you. If you reply respectfully, keep your hands in sight, don't do anything until asked, etc... treat them like they're on the hair-trigger they will be when responding to a "a guy with a shotgun" call... things should go a lot better.
They're just trying to do their job, and remember, they have to always be thinking that the next minor traffic stop could be the nutcase who tries to blow their head off.

Actually no. Having a gun in plain sight is LEGAL without a permit.
I'm not talking law here Lordshard, I'm saying with the current security paranoia prevalent in the US it is asking for trouble.

This is a big issues that ppl deal with alot about paintball guns. Some people think there illegal but rly there not.I just want opions because its not rly serious because the only thing i lost was my brick im just curious if tearing thro my truck and threatning me by towing my truck and jail time was how they should of handled it.Obivously it was a misunderstanding when the paintball gun was in the front seat next to me cause i was fixing it.I was just waiting for my friend while he was in his girls house while i was fixing my door,i was minding my own business when they surrounded me and cuffed me.And i was on my way to the paintball place to check out my gun and fill my tanks.Thats why im making it a big deal.

What would you be suing them for, minor embarassment? Christ get over it already. If there was a guy parked outside your house weilding what looked like a gun I'm sure you'd expect the the police to do the same thing.

How can you be so sure? As a cop seeing ANYTHING that resembles a gun would rather be safe than sorry.

I don't think you have a case. I think you could find a lawyer who will gladly take your money and go to court but I don't think you'll win. In the end you'll just have less money than you do now.
Your story was originally that it was in the front seat. Now you say you were checking the paintball gun out while you were both in the front seat.
The facts are someone called in saying they saw a person with a gun. It seems like the cops just did their due dilligence in searching your vehicle to make sure that what you said was what the caller saw was actually the paintball gun. I think you should drop this whole thing and see it for what it was. You doing something which wasn't the smartest thing in the world to do and in the end, no harm, no foul. So you were held in handcuffs for a bit while they checked it out. You are free to go about your business. If you were constantly being pulled over, now then you might have a case.
Oh, and believe me, I don't normally side with the police.

Based on the following I think that your attitude may have had a lot to do with it.

My pistol (glock 36) is like the American express card, I don't leave home without it. I have been pulled over many times and never had an issue with it. I put it in plain sight on the dash and keep my hands on the steering wheel until told to do otherwise. I have never once had any cop city, county, or state give me any problem. Treat them with a little respect let them do there job and you won't have any problem.

The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office said Horniak attempted to stop a green-colored Oldsmobile near the Highway 24 overpass after noticing the license tag was halfway attached and in danger of falling off the vehicle. As Horniak approached Johnson, shots were fired, the sheriff's office said.

They should think everyone is a murderer until proven otherwise.

No it wouldn't but you were outside someones house in some neighborhood not at the paintball arena

To you it might be easy to tell the difference because you play with paintball guns. To someone who doesn't or may have never seen one then there is no difference. Had I have seen you in my neighborhood I would have done the same thing.

Dude trust me on this as I have had many discussions with PA give it up if you can't get him to go with you on this one it's just a lost cause

You asked and all these people gave you their opinion but yet you still wanna argue..I don't get it. We are not all just punk ass gamers. You have cops and lawyers and doctors and paramedics and firefighters, computer techs, city workers and so on. This is our very own opinion/advice phonebook. You're gonna do what you want but i would take the advice, learn the lesson and drop it. You're almost 19, it's time to stop mooching off society, your parents or what not. Get a job and pay your own way. Your whole attitude and the name of the thread reminds me of a welfare junky.

I dunno we view these things differently I guess; could be why we don't have 20,000 gun deaths per year over here...
Ultimately speaking the price you pay for not having gun toting lunatics going on a ramapge in your neighbourhood is that you might get pulled over once in a while by mistake. It's a smal price to pay.
