I have no personal anti-Semetic feelings whatsoever. I am looking at this in an objective manner, as much as anyone can I think. I am neither Jewish nor am I Middle Eastern or Islamic despite my chosen nick.
I don't care if they want to wipe Israel off the map. Israel is the root of a lot of trouble in the Middle East and it's creation is something which should never have taken place. It's creation was a mistake from inception. It was then and is now. Israel as a country is not some innocent that is a victim. I'm sure there are innocent people who are Israeli, just as there are innocent people who are Islamic. Israel has been and continue to be brutal aggressors as well. They practice terrorism too except our media either doesn't give it coverage or calls it by another name. They are well ahead in terms of enemy body count. They get NO pass from me and I don't assume they're morally right in anything whatsoever. On the other hand, I also do not give any of these Arab countries a pass either. But then, I don't instantly think they're bad or 'evil doers' either.
I do not accept terrorism as a solution to anything and I recognize it as being a problem on BOTH sides.
Lastly, just because the leader of the country espouses hatred and war, doesn't mean the rest of that country does. Take our very own country for an example. Does Bush really speak for you? He sure as shit doesn't speak for me! I would not like some other country bombing ME for something that jackass says or does. There is a moderate faction in Iran.

Personally, I think Iran probably has some kind of secret nuke program, however what country doesnt?
If all they want is electric power, then there is no reason why the nations of the world cant build them reactors and oversee them.
The EU even offered to build them a light water reactor, which they turned down. They all need to talk and find out how much electric power is needed then set on a course where other nations will build and oversee the reactors.
If Iran refuses still to give up their enrichment after being offered exactly what they claim thay need means they are hiding something.
As for stating and calling for the destruction of another country, that is just a cowards stand. Iran and Israel dont have to like each other, but they do have to co-exist and the sooner these cowardly leaders accept that fact and end the calls for destruction the better chance that they can move into a brighter future.
PS.. DOnt bomb Iran, my wallet cant take the gas price increase afterwards

The thing is israel and palestine used to be one state with jews and muslims living together happily, and whats more important, it was a non religious government, one did rule by religious teachings. I dont know why they split, i just know they did.

Jews started immigrating to Palestine in the late 1800's and bought land from the Arab landholders for settlements. The arabs starting rioting and killed 133 jews in 1929. Who started what? In 1947 the world community, the UN voted and granted the jews the state of Israel. The world voted and that is what was passed. Like it or not.
In 1948 Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon and Iraq invaded Israel. Israel fought them off and won. Borders were restructured. In 1967, Syria, Jordan and Egypt were planning to attack Israel again. Egypt blocking the Suez canal for israeli ships. "The 6 day war" ensued and Israel again defeated the arab states, mostly due to a preemptive strike. Borders were redrawn again with Israel gaining more territory. Israel did give back the Sinai later.
Isn't that the way of the world? Wars are fought and land has been won and lost for eons. As far as I'm concerned, the arab states got what was coming to them for wanting to attack in the first place. Agreed?
Since then, Israeli citizens have been attacked by arab terrorists through suicide bombers and missles being launched from the Golan Heights. Let's not forget the 1972 Munich Massacre, in which Palastinian terrorists (with ties to Yassar Arafat) killed 11 of the Israeli olympic athletes.
All this info can be found on any history web site or literature.
Maybe I am naive but please enlighten me on how Israel is a brutal aggressor. I dont know, I dont see much in the news of an Israeli suicide bomber blowing up a Palestinian cafe.

Look a bit harder. Look at death tolls on both sides. Look at the destruction of property and the unilateral action taken by Israel. Look without justifying Israel's actions.
By the way, Jews have and still do live in the Middle East. They are in all the countries there and have been since ... well, since there were Jews.

Very objective, neutral and obviously not anti-semtic in any way.

If you take away everything else I said, the context, then yes, that does indeed look anti-Semetic.
I actually think it would be more anti-Israel than anti-Semetic.
My point was, I'm not on EITHER side by default whereas most Americans seem to side by default on the Israeli side.

Well if I had given the nuke to israel I'd be worried about iran building nikes as well. When both sides have nukes it's called a nuclear war and no-one walks away from that.
It's not anti-semitic to be opposed to israel. Myself I think Israel's human rights record is a disgrace.
As for the 6 day war; 'wanting to attack' is not now and never has been a legitimate reason for war. Otherwise you might as well say that any of Hitlers conquests were legitimate as any one of the countries he invaded would have have loved to be able to get him first. What you actually have in the 6 day war is an extremely well planned and well executed land grab on behalf of the israelis. Right then is when the UN should (and without your intervention probably would) have stepped in and set up their own border. I can't see that what they did then was any different to what saddam did in kuwait.

I have to disagree with the "land grab" scenario by Israel. I am no history buff but from what I have read on the situation is this. May 18, 1967, you have the UN peacekeeping force on the Sinai until Egyptian president Nasser requested thier withdrawal. Nasser then begins to remilitarize the Sinai, concentrating tanks and soldiers on the border with Israel. May 23rd, Egypt blockades the Straits of Tiran, thus blockading the Israeli port of Eilat. A blockade is generally regarded as an act of war.
On May 26th, Nasser announces "If Israel embarks on an aggression against Syria or Egypt...... our basic objective will be to destroy Israel."
On May 30th, Jordan signs a mutual defense treay with Egypt, joining the alliance between egypt and syria. Nasser announces "The armies of Egypt, Jordan, Syria and Lebanon are poised on the borders of Israel.. while standing behind us are the armies of Iraq, Algeria, Kuwait, Sudan and the whole Arab nation. This act will astound the world". Other Arab nations now begin to mobilize thier armies.
On June 5th, Israel launches its preemptive strike against Egypts airfields, destroying virtually all of Egypts air force and gaining air superiority throughout the rest of the short war.
Yes.. it does sound like I just read that on some history internet site. I admit that is what I did to get all the facts. BUT this is information I read about a long time ago when I used to research the history of the middle east. I always had a wonder as to why all the hatred and killing.
I dont mean to sound like I am taking one side or the other. But the facts to me are the facts. I am not an Arab and I am not a Jew. I call it like I see it.
Ok , those are my history lessons for today, kids.

I am happiest when God is not invoked by either side in any argument as he obviously isn't representing himself and in all likeliehood would not agree with either party.

Political threads in themselves are not dangerous. It's the lack of subtlety of some participants that lead to threads being closed.
People who sort everything in two categories, black or white, good or evil, left or right, shouldn't be allowed to post or talk in public.
It's unfortunate that some members of this community are like that. Goes with geography I guess.
