Off topic, but don't go too far overboard - after all, we are watching...heh.

Sad. I have a few friends that are pretty hardcore Republican, it almost feels like I'm slowly losing them to a cult. Ironically, it's not so much the politicians, it's the talk shows, Rush Limbaugh and the like. It's amazing to hear anyone stand by this guy, especially after the disgusting shit he said about Michael J. Fox and his Parkinson's disease.

Comedians like Black, John Stewart, even some of the milder ones like Leno and Letterman--they are more about bullshit-detection than political agendas. When people are wrapped up in that bullshit, it hurts to hear someone call it for the bullshit it is.

That's sad, Jimmy. But for him to turn that fanatical, there was probably something wrong with him from the start. Even the average republican is a little more cynical, especially about Dick Haliburton Cheney.

Ah the Rush vs Fox incident. Well, the ad that sparked the whole thing is misleading or rather incorrect. He was against Embryonic Stem Cell research not Stem Cell research as a whole.

As far as politics are concerned, both parties are pussies. Shit needs to get done and they're all afraid of upsetting a few people.

Cult?
Yeah, the people listening to Limbaugh act like they're part of a cult. BTW, you completely, entirely sidestepped why people are pissed at Rush. It's the part where he accused Fox of faking his symptoms and then physically mocked him, and I kinda think you know that Nuck.

Politics in America seems to me to be getting way too polarised. It seems to be the case that parties and people as well chose what they believe based not on what they'd actually think if they sat down and thought about it but on being seen to be opposed to what the 'other guy' says he thinks.

And that applies to both sides. Politicians shouldn't be afraid to agree with the other side if that's what they believe just because because of some idiotic desire to set the 'other guy' up as the bad guy...

American citizens need to start looking to go with a 3rd party or independent the next time around. This country needs a fresh start. While both the dems and republicans have some good points, they horribly fail on others... and usually the people who follow them or are involved always stick to "party lines". <agree with what Parrot said here>

I agree Parrot. Republicans, Democrats, right wingers, left wingers, conservative and liberals. You can group these people under one title. CLOSEMINDED. People that can't open their minds, scare the shit out of me.

As for Tillman. He knew what he was getting into. If the military dropped a bomb on a football field when he was playing, I can see his bro being upset then.

Parrot, BTT, Codered, you guys are spot on.
Not to sound sappy, but we're all Americans first and foremost, we all love our country and share pretty much the same values. Good jobs, a decent home, wife/husband, 2.5 kids and dog.

Somehow we are being divided up into tribes and taught to hate and fear one another.

I dont hate or fear anyone. I love you guys!

Each party has bad seeds and that will never change. To be honest I dont follow rush or anyone else. I was not even aware of what he did to Fox. That being said I dont think it is any worse than having sex with an intern in the white house while you are married.

I am a republican but I dont consider myself real conservative. I am on the fence on most or the main issues. Hey! maybe I should go into politics lol.

I to am looking to make as much money as possible to be able to have all the nice things in life. I am doing pretty well IMO but my slow downs are taxes, giving medical care to imagrants that dont pay taxes, helping every poor slob that does not want to work and generally carrying the weight of the slackers. Unemployment is at 4%, if you are not working it is because you dont want to, period.
