Is the game worth the eventual monthly charge? I'm wondering because although it sounds like a cool concept, it doesn't sound like it offers all that much more over a similar game like BF, which of course is free.

The Insolent Assailants are a Terran Republic outfit that will be based primarily on the U.S. Central Server. Our outfit tag will be ]iA[. We still have openings for all available roles (grunts, pilots, hackers, MAX, engineers, stealth, medics, snipers, etc...), so you can still be that stealth hacker Reaver pilot that you always wanted to be. Along with Planetside's built in communication tools, we will also be using Team Speak

Or you can be less serious and play with me for fun. Even though we do serious stuff.

Everything I have heard (quite alot) has basically assured me that it worth it for me. The only thing that may stop me is the monthly fee being too high.

What BF offers is basically like a brief glimpse of what PS is planning on becoming. In BF you log in and you play basically one of any of the set classes (which can dictate how you play) with no variance in what that class can do. In PS you start off as a raw recruit with a WORLD (not a small battlefield) out there to fight in, and many different ways to build up and customize your soldier to your tastes. Don't think you can cut it as a twitch gamer? Build yourself up as an officer type, or gunner, or hacker, or spy... These aren't set classes but archetypes that you can then customize as you wish to suit your play style. The more you play the more experience you can use to build your soldier to your tastes. Skills, weapons, vehicles, personal augmentations all these are things are under your control.

Outside of your soldier there is the world you fight in. It is up 24/7 whether you are playing or not. You can log off after your faction has claimed a large chunk of a continent to find that you now control all of it, more of it, less of it, or even none of it. This isn't one map recycled repeatedly, this is a WORLD that is constantly changing as you and other gamers play your chosen roles.

There is nothing out there that even comes close to offering what PS can do. In all seriousness, if you like playing FPS games stop by the website and see what the game is all about. Decide for yourself. Because in the end, it will be your money spent.

The monthly fee is only supposed to be 10 to 15 dollars a month. not to expensive for the game play thats supposed to be offered.
