Re: Big news about tiny car
I wouldn't buy an SUV because they are slow, ugly, corner like a schoolbus and make you look like a tool. The fact that they are expensive to run wouldn't even make my top 5 of reasons for not owning one

Re: Big news about tiny car
Why I have a 4Runner
1. it snows here in the winter, roads get untravelable for 2WD.
2. Fits the family comfortably unlike MOST gas & sticker price friendly vehicles.
3. I can haul most things that a car would not allow me to transport because of size restrictions.
4. Family vacations would be impossible with 3 kids and luggage without it.
5. Can haul things on the trailer without wondering if my wussy 4cylinder could handle it.

As I said before, when utilized for their purpose it's ok to own. It's not like I'm condemning all suv and truck owners to hell or something haha. Just the ones that buy them for image and not for functionality suck.
However, I have to argue against point number 1. I have a 2wd car and it goes perfectly fine in the snow. I think you need to be more specific because 2wd that is rear wheel sucks in the snow. 2wd that is front wheel is pretty decent and I've never had any problems. Plus there are plenty of options out there that have 4wd on cars. But for you it wouldn't be make sense to have a sedan with a family of 5. The point I'm trying to make is that someone like me who doesn't have a family or doesn't do contract work has no reason to own an suv or pick up truck as far as their purpose goes. It'd be much more logical for me to own a sedan or compact car.
Re: Big news about tiny car
Scientists have discovered that men in Quebec actually have a gene for the ability to drive in the snow.

lol Chacal you smacker.
People here in PA are retarded in the snow. It only snows often enough for it to a nuisance to most people, not frequent enough for everyone to be well trained in snow driving. in short, people are stupid.
Random, I had a FWD car before it does ok in the snow, but nowhere remotely close to my 4Runner. it may be ok for 1-3 inches, but not much more(like Assballs).
as you said people who use it, need it, but some are just stupid.

O it is possible. You can take a family vacation from NY to Florida in a station wagon. TRUST me it can be done with no harm to any family members. Your kids don't need to each have a captains chair. They don't need their own climate control or i-pod plug in. As a member of a family of five that took summer vacations all over the northeast and Florida. Trust me we did just fine with a bench seat in the back and Dads country music on the radio.
99% of the people that "need" SUV's or big ass pickups don't really need them. Even if you are a contractor. I can't tell you how many contractors pull up to my jobs in monster pickup trucks. Yet the only tool they have is a 25 foot tape measure.

To be honest, I find mini-vans more roomy as a taller person. SUV's make me feel cramped just as much as cars.

The way families travel today it might as well been. Don't ask me how my father got into country music. All I know is every trip started with this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XsqZL_xpavE We were more like the Griswolds.

Re: Big news about tiny car
Future conversation between a son and his father;
"Daddy, what's an American?"
"Well, son, long ago there was a country of 'Americans'. They lived in a country where 'the pursuit of happiness' was perverted and warped into 'the freedom to piss away your money, devalue human life and act like you are entitled to anything you want'."
"Are there any Americans left, daddy?"
"Sure, there are a few but they're all sweeping the floors of their Chinese masters now, son. All those gas-guzzling, self-important eco-terrorists eventually spent their retirement funds on Hummers, F450s and basically bankrupt their country until even their kids were paying for the ruin they cast upon their fellow countrymen and their enviroment."
"I thought we all wanted to be Americans?"
"Well, son, we all felt the same desire to pursue happiness and freedom, but the original Americans were just too short-sighted to realize their actions were destroying the very foundation of the country their fore-fathers' fought and died for."
"So, driving a $100,000.00, block-long tank that got 10mpg and cost $5000.00 a year to insure drove these Americans into extinction?"
"I'm afraid so, son. But look at the bright side, we no longer have anyone to hate."
"Gee, Dad, you're swell!"

Unless you are towing food, water or shelter you really don't NEED to be towing it. You might want to tow it but I am sure you could survive without whatever it is you "need" to tow.
