well your ram is bottlenecking the rest of the system. I would say you really need pc 2700 at least. Also if you want better performance just turn down all of your graphics settings.

I have a p4 2.4b and 5900 fx, but I run Et in 800x600 with all the low graphics settings. I prefer the higher framerate over the pretty graphics and high resolutions. Thats just for multiplayer games though. Single player games i crank everything up.

edit: you also might want to try upgrading your motherboard's bios, and your ti4800's bios. Jut go to their respective manufacturers and see if they have any flash updates.

Well, my mobo doesn't support faster ram, so yeah, that blows chunks, and I don't have a floppy drive currently so I can't flash any bios.

my mobo only "supports" up to pc 3200, but pc 3500 ran fine in it. when the manufacturer talks about what the mobo supports, they arent taking overclocking into consideration. I mean there is pc 4200 out now, and I can guarantee that there isnt 1 mobo out there that "supports" it.

I just had this idea. Do you have a cd burner at all? if you do, you can save all the files on a cd and set your cd drive as your first boot device. in theory, the flash process should work just the same as if it was done on a floppy. Ive never tried it, but im just throwing it out there as a possible solution.

well no, I took care of it, I got my floppy to work. It was just a matter of getting off my ass and unhooking everything and doing a bit of recableing to get the right power cable down to the floppy, I guess I used the secondary one and thats why it wouldn't work right. so I flashed my VGA bios and that helped 200 3dmark points, I could flash my regular bios but I don't think there is an update yet. I'm checking on it.

I read a book about this....you are sane, if you are insane. Those who are insane, are sane. Those who want to be sane, are insane, and those who want to be insane are insane.

Something like that. Very difficult book
