Tommy, I'm sorry to hear about your uncle. I've also had several relatives succomb to cancer. Although I don't smoke, and never have, I still suspect it'll get me one day.

....sending good thoughts your way.

Tommy, I am truly sorry to hear this. I lost 3 of 4 Grandparents to this horrible disease So I know what you are going through. I found that it helps to not give up hope and to remember the good times you have had together. My thoughts and prayers go out to you.

Hang on, Tommy.
I hope you use the remaining time to express your feelings to him. If you loved the guy, tell him, that will help him more than any treatment.

We guys have to learn to do that before it's too late.

I lost a cousin to a rare form of leukemia about a year ago... he went to the hospital on a thursday because he skinned his shin and it wouldn't stop bleeding... by sunday, he was dead. Apparently, he had been getting subtle symptoms for a while, but didn't realize it... guy was healthy as a horse, very active, didn't smoke...

It was a real blow to the family... the most sudden cancer case I think I've ever heard of...

Hope your uncle gets better Tommy :)

I'm not sure how much of a help this is, but you can find information and treatment options on a whole range of cancers at this website.
http://www.mskcc.org/mskcc/html/361.cfm

I hope that sometime in the near future cancer will be cured, and people will look back at cancer like we look back at polio and smallpox.

I haven't lost anyone in my immediate family to cancer, but we did lose a very close family friend (we considered her to be part of the family) not to long ago due to Kidney cancer.

Again, you have my condolences and support Tommyboy.

Just to give you an update because some have asked (thanks for the PMs everyone), my uncle is now in palliative care in teh hospital and the doctors have started chemo on him. The doctor said that realistically, he will no live longer than a couple of months, and as few as a couple of weeks.

I will keep you posted, but thanks again to everyone who has passed along kind words and thoughts. I hope to be back playing with you guys more soon, but I have not been around much because of this.

Not trying to be mean, just warning you, when he refuses to eat anything, even the liquid food they will give him, then you are only down to a few days. I have been there with family members.
