Does this mean something is wrong?

Off topic, but don't go too far overboard - after all, we are watching...heh.

Thanks Havoc. I'll check the onboard sound when I get home. I thought I had disabled that, but I'll check. It is the P4C-800 E Deluxe motherboard. I used the CD that came with it, but I didn't download updated drivers for it since it was working fine, but I will look into that too.

Install the chipset drivers to get rid of the SM Bus Controller.

You should ALWAYS install your chipset drivers on a new rebuild.

Ralph are you running with onboard sound or a sound card?

Might have to fix the spacing on the listings there if you want that photoshop image to look real =]

Edit: Wow just noticed you have the exact same hardware and the exact same branches open!

Geeze! =]

WHen you play video games, hyper-threading actually gives you a performace hit.

Just disabling hyper-threading in your BIOS won't help, you'd have to do a clean install with it off. But your PC should be fast enough that it shoedn't hurt any games.

I do have an Audigy 2 and my sound seems fine. Since everyone has mentioned EAX issues, I am just using the Miles for now. I thought I disabled onboard sound but I will double check and look for the newes chipset drivers.

Well I double checked my BIOS and it looks like my onboard audio was still set to "auto"; I disabled it and it is gone.

I also installed the Intel Chipset stuff from my motherboard's CD and updated from the Intel website. I can't tell any difference just yet, but it looks like the yellow question marks are gone. One thing that concerns me is that the read-me file and a forum that I looked at mentioned a special procedure to follow if you had already installed your OS and other drivers before installing the chipset stuff. We'll see if I have any problems.

You should be fine Ralph. Good job. We can discuss fresh installs of the OS and related drivers at another time.
