I was surprised, reading his biography, to learn he kept on top of things and wrote most of his speeches himself. Those that came from his speechwriters he heavily edited. I had thought, like many others, that he was just an actor in a suit.

Although I didn't agree with any of his policies, I have to admire the man, and his wife, for having done the job, and having lived after, with dignity.

Loveable fellow, he was. Remember his "Honey, I forgot to duck"?

If I am not in Chicago this weekend, I may head into DC to say goodbye...

None of his policies Chacal? You bring up an important issue in your post though, and that is Nancy Reagan. She has taken a lot of flak over the years, but she has been an exemplary wife. We should all be so lucky as to have a woman who watches out for us the way Nancy did for President Reagan while he was in office and, probably more importantly, when he was no longer able to take care of himself.

Did you know that the Reagan's didn't take any of the taxpayers money to support Ronald Reagan while he had Alzheimers? Of course they were rich and could afford it, but then again it would have been easy to let the taxpayers pick up the tab.

I have to admire that... finally, someone not taking advantage of the government.

Here's to you Ronald!

Possibily the best President of the Century.
