For those of you who are coming late to this discussion and singing the praises of marijuana... Read the previous posts as most of your points about the supposed health benefits of marijuana as well as lack of harmful effects have been refuted already.
As for JLo, no thanks. As others have said, her butt is wayyyy too big.

This thread is beginning to stretch into infinity. Problem is that many people have an opinion on the subject (some informed, many are not) and don't read previous posts before stating it. We're seeing the same line of reasoning over and over again. If anyone has something new to add to the conversation, that would be great. Otherwise, we should refer all new posters to the previous pages where their points have already been debated ad nauseum.
Now, the JLo stuff, that's new material and is appreciated of course. Don't know what it has to do with marijuana, but it's new anyway. I'm going to say forget JLo and go with Heather Graham. Odd tastes I know.

Now I do admit that I hadn't read the book posted previous to my initial post. Honestly should have. And while I did repeat SOME of the earlier posts, I did not "sing the praises" of marijuana. Nor was my post uninformed, RN = Registered Nurse. And while I did make the the blanket statement about the patently false information put out about pot, what I SHOULD have said was propaganda. The new anti-drug commercials hit a nerve with me. "Yeah, I am gonna get high and shoot my friend. It's all the drugs fault". It disturbs me greatly to think that our government assumes we are that simple. It saddens me even more that a majority of us are...
Now instead of singing the praises of marijuana, I was primarily questioning most peoples reasons for their POV. In addition I was attempting to make the statement that there is no legitimate reason for it being illegal in this country (USA). We have FAR more harmful things (in MANY ways) available over the counter. Why should the government tell me or anyone else in this country that marijuana is illegal?
I am well aware of the long term health issues associated with marijuana. Most of these studies involved fairly heavy use AND involve smoking the substance. The smoking portion of that statement is the largest reason for health concerns. I am also WELL aware of the side effects of many perscription drugs that you suggest may produce better results without similar/greater harm. You are incorrectly informed.
When not smoked, marijuana does indeed deserve to be considered for medicinal purposes. I am not talking for every Tom, Dick, and Harry looking for an excuse to get high. My aunt had a terminal case of cancer, lived in Ca. got the perscription and was able to regain lost weight do to treatments, was not as burdened down by depression (as is often the case), and was able to function far better then she had been using previous meds (plural). She lived another 5 years longer than her doctor had given her (I am not attributing that to the marijuana). And she lived them far better than most cancer patients do. One plant doing far better than many man made pills. And it is STILL a federal crime to be in possesion of marijuana, even with a script in states where it is legal. Explain the sense in that.
---
Then we're more fortunate because we don't have drugs legalized here (I know, they're still here). We don't have the extra burdens on our health care and mental health industries that legalized drugs would produce.
---
Now I won't argue about the potential health care issues, but mental health issues??? Please explain that one to me? This country (again USA) has handled the health care issue of WAY too many products poorly. We have "sin taxes" out of control to pay for EVERYTHING BUT the health problems these products produce. Put the taxes on these items to cover the burden they are putting on our health care system. Then make sure that money gets to our hospitals instead of some political black hole. I have no problems with the idea of paying extra money for my liquor/tobacco/marijuana to ensure that these health care issues are payed for. Just because our government is so intent on playing big brother for everyone doesn't mean we should sit idly while they do so. For crying out loud, we have people suing fast food industries because they are fat!!!

Tool, after having gone through the posts here, I have to say this to you. Stop going south because everyone else is going north. While a majority of the things occuring in our society are simply without rhyme or reason, there ARE things going on in this country that happening for a good reason.
I won't argue with you about many of the things you pointed out. I am also not a big fan of A) our govt. (B) pop culture. People in general are happy just to be happy. That is something our society thrives at producing. "Entertain them, at all costs". There are benefits to come from this idea, but the tragic thing is that too many people are happy to live life JUST being entertained. You are not one of them, I am glad to hear it. But don't give a knee jerk response to everything this country is and has been. Say simply instead, I am proud to be an American (In time you will realize you are), but I am not proud of all the actions done by my country.
On another subject entirely... I used to be a big fan of J-Los body. Two things changed, her ass grew and she slept with Puff Daddy. Now I wouldn't touch her with someone elses d1(k... American beer is weak, but Canadian/Mexican beer is worse. We have better steaks though
