I think Scott Peterson is guilty, I just wouldn't apply the death penalty with a case based on circumstantial evidence. No confession, no eyewitness to the murder, no murder weapon. Just to be one the safe side, I'd stick him in prison for life, but no death sentence.
True that......

We need to have Public Service Announcements on TV to try and reach out to these lunatics. Something like:
'Thinking of killing your family then killing yourself?
Why don't you try just killing yourself first, see if you like it.
*Then* think about killing the rest of your family'

The death penalty is neither a deterrent to crime nor a cost-effective means of punishment. The wide support for it in this country is absolutely inane, and further proof that Americans generally value retribution over rational process.
I support a system of hard labor, in which murderers and rapists (who would normally be sentenced to death) would be subject to pseudo-slavery in a gulag-like environment. There is absolutely no reason to have the death penalty in its place.

While this sounds like a good idea.. this would actually take away jobs from those more deserving. As unskilled as those jobs might be, there are people willing to do them.
Retribution.. and eye for an eye.. sounds mighty fine by me. It's not like these criminals don't deserve it.

I'm always wary of people who rejoice in the death or suffering of others, whatever the reason.
There's often little difference between their mind and a criminal's. It could be just a question of opportunity.

Who says they would take jobs? There is no market for useless rock-breaking.
