Everyone sing along...

"Fly Eagles fly, on the road to victory.
Fight Eagles fight, score a touchdown 1-2-3.
Hit 'em low,
Hit 'em high,
And watch our Eagles fly.
Fly Eagles fly, on the road to victory.
E-A-G-L-E-S Eagles!"

Like I said in my first post here;

The Pats have just finished bitch-slappping Pennsylvania's only hope at a Super Bowl title.

Still, you don't win on reputation. You have to play the game regardless of how stacked the odds may seem to be. This will be two powerful, determined teams giving their best for the title.

I did play football in high school (and have followed the NFL just about all my life), and what you are saying is only partially true. True, the snow does not affect the flight of the ball. However, a team that does not play outside in the cold is not as used to those playing conditions. If you look at the record of doom teams playing outdoors (and especially below a given cold temperature), it is much worse than a regular road team in the playoffs. Can you offer an alternate explanation for that phenomenom?

And if you team is depending on one player, cough TO cough, to come back and win it for them, then theres your teams downfall. The Patriots rely on eachother as a team not a single "star player".

First of all, get something for that cold, my friend. No, TO is not going to win the game by himself. But is he a very explosive player. Unlike the ballet dancers called receivers the Pats secondary have successfully mugged so far in the playoffs, TO is regarded as one of the top physical receivers around.

Like Zog said before the Pats have proven time and time again we can stop anyone and we can score points on anyone. We shut the Colts fans up, we shut the Steelers fans up, and now we are going to shut the Eagles fans up, including you trashcan.

The Pats have a very proven record in the playoffs in the past few years. However, the Pats are not unbeatable (just ask the Dolphins). And I remind you my friend the Patriots team are the ones that are playing, not the fans. Even if the Eagles lose, I do not shut up that easy.

I wonder when this team will finally get the respect they deserve. How many superbowls do we have to win, how many hearts do we have to break. I want respect damn it!!!!! :D

What is this with you Boston fans not thinking your team is getting respected?? All I heard all year in the media is Patriots, Patriots, Patriots!!! What do you people want, a national holiday in honor of your team or something??

By the way, how did you guys view your own team three years ago when they played the Rams?

I hardly think Plaxico Veris (sp?) and Heinze Ward are "ballet dancers". And the Pats aren't "mugging" anyone. If they pass a rule next year that receivers cannot be touched then I'm giving up being a football fan.

And that stiff Peyton Manning? Yeah, you're right he's a flash in the pan. What's frikin 49+ touch down passes?

As far as those frauds "The Rams", they had won 1 Super Bowl and were talking "Dynasty" to anyone who would listen to them. The Pats have a slightly better record in the playoffs and in the past 2 NFL seasons against some quality teams.

I think the Pats have gotten respect from the media. It's other teams' fans that need a lesson in reality. Respect and acknowledge success.

The Eagles should be proud of what they've done. But their job isn't done yet...and they have a long, long way to go to match the accomplishments of the Patriots.

I agree that Hines Ward is for real. Plexiglass might be a little different story. Now I'm too lazy to check, but I didn't say anything about Peyton Manning did I?
My point about the Rams is this: The Pats were heavy underdogs to the Rams three years, and managed to win. It is not outside of the realm of possibilities that any team beats any other team. Any team's fans are going to keep rooting for their team. and the Pats will never change that fact! And yes, I may be biased towards the Eagles (and you toward the Pats). But hey, that's what being fans are all about!

Now, just watch the game and take your medicine like a man, you primitive screwhead!!!!

I've respected other teams more than the Pats, but the Pats have proven to me that they cannot be counted out of any situation.

They handle situations like no other team in any sport, and they get the job done without the podium-hogging, chest-pounding, monkey-in-a-cage acts that some players on other teams have (*cough* TO *cough*).

More coughing, must be flu season. If you look at the Eagles, 95% of those guys are class acts. The only reason the Eagles traded for TO was because the recievers were the great achillies heal on the team, and there was literlly nobody else close to TO's talents they could get. And, although I'm not a big fan of some of his actions, I will say at least his off-the-field history has been fairly clean. There has been no wife-beating, or running down traffic cops, or possible involvements in double murders.

But I do think some of the Pats tend to taunt a bit on the field. Not profusely, but there still is some less than ideal sportsmanship going on. A little shoving at the end of plays, alot of lip, so on. You admitted yourself about Rodney Harrison being a yapper.

And I respect the Patriots immensely, but I just think maybe they shoudl play the game first before being annoited this year's champions!

I really do need to do some work.

Edit: If you are interested in playing a game themed around one Eagle starter that is less than stellar, here you go:

If they win, I wouldn't be surprised. All the local pundits here have seemingly jumped on this "There's no chance the Eagles can win" speil, which I think looks and sounds awfully bad.

Anything can happen in one game. I think the Patriots are rightfully expected to win, but this doesn't guarantee they will.

Unlike a lot of people, my life isn't tied up in the success of the local football team. If the Patriots lose, it will affect my life in a most miniscule way.

That being said;

Patriots 31, Philly 10

I'm sick of Philly.. hate them so much. for SO many reasons. I guess I want the pats to win, and I know they will as I love football more than anything and everything else combined. but I'm not so fond on them either.

The New Orleans Saints' day is coming, go ahead laugh it up as I know you will... but in the next five years the saints will go to the superbowl, I gauruntee.

Lucky for the Pats, at least one Philly player is giving the Patriots something they seem to need in order to win:

>> Super Talker: Eagles' Mitchell stirs trouble with Patriots

By ROB MAADDI, AP Sports Writer
January 29, 2005
PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- Freddie Mitchell made fewer enemies when he just boasted about himself.

Known more for his big mouth than making big plays, the Philadelphia Eagles' other loquacious receiver -- the one without the Pro Bowl pedigree and ankle injury -- offended some Patriots when he dissed their secondary in a television interview.

Mitchell, starting only because All-Pro Terrell Owens is hurt, said he just knew the numbers -- not the names -- of New England's cornerbacks. He singled out Rodney Harrison, saying he ``has something'' for the veteran strong safety.
<<

The Patriots thrive on being the underdog, getting no respect, etc. They're favored to win, so they really needed at least a little smack talk to get psyched up. Thanks Mitchell :)
As for me, if the Pats lose, I'll need one day off to sit around and stew, then I would be OK. They've already won two, it does kinda take some of the hunger away (at least for this fan)[I]

Once you distance yourself from being a homer you must see why the Patriots will win.

The fix is in.

Not once in a playoff or Conference championship game in the past two years have the Patriots been called for holding or pass interference. Even with the emphasis this year ( An emphasis due entirely to the Pats last year by the way)

Notice how since 9/11 the most succesful team in American sports is named the Patriots?

Allright that one may require a tinfoil hat but the penalties stats are true. Check it out for yourself.

Its cool with me though. I am perfectly happy to see the Eagles fans suffer. They thought losing 3 championship games was bad? Wait 'til this hits them!
