Yeah, they got screwed over in a few different ways. It's actually a sad habit of behavior with a lot of people. When they are against something (like, say, the Vietnam war) they take that idea and run with it. And run with it, and run with it. Eventually they wind up taking things to the extreme, and then going even farther. It started out as hatred for the war, hatred for the administration, then became contempt for the soldiers and even a case of putting the Vietnamese or Communism on a pedestal. I still see that behavior today, hopefully it doens't get to the same point. It's like the French Revolution(s)...start out one place and then keep going until everyone's head is on the guillotine.
