As for the hurricane "cycle" we are in the middle of a 10 year one I believe. So in 2-4 years there shouldn't be as many if thats what I got from the news

As for penguins, they aren't as cute and cuddly as they seem. They shit everywhere, stand in their own shit, smell bad and just stand around all day...from what I've seen

Horsepower, I really hope one of those storms doesn't hit her. You shouldnt wish things like that on anyone, no matter what the reasoning is. Plus, I live a state over from her and knowing my luck I'd ge hit too. And the only type of hurricanes we get that I can think of are Nor'easters...snow. I dont mind snow but I hate 7' snow drifts in my driveway....no thanks. You'd be better off wishing an earhtquake on her haha. I think Massachusetts is on a fault line and due for an earthquake.

Those events are unrelated. Hurricanes and world famine don't justify cruelty to animals. As individuals, we have limited powers against the biggest tragedies, but we could at least do what little we can to make the world a better place. This would include leaving animals alone.

Well that would work if they had anywhere to go. If you are stuck in Somalia, where are you going to go? Ethiopia? Eritria? the Sudan? Oh I know, they can walk to Zaire where Greenpeace actually talked the government into not using some of Norman Borlaugh's dwarf wheat because it is a genetically modified crop and could harm people. So they starve to death instead.

I won't even get into the whole BS of global warming causeing hurricanes except to say that 150 years of weather data is not enough to draw any real conclusions from. We are practically infants in our understanding of global environmental cycles.

I am not sure that is what girl meant by that statement. I have reread it a few times and surely sounds to me like she is saying that those people get what they deserve. She can of course clarify if she wants. Stop being her apologist.

Yay you could be one of the lucky few that gets shot by border patrols rather than starve. There really is nowhere to go. You also don't get berries in the desert and even if you could you need water more than you need food...

Justifying the hurricanes to prove like global warming? Come on girl! Did you know most homeless people are mentally ill? I think we should care about them! I think we should bring back institutions to put them in to see psychiatrists and get help to keep them off the streets to protect them until they are well. I think we need better drug programs and harsher laws for addicts to force them get help instead of sell their bodies on street corners and living out of dumpsters. It is sad the way we talk so cavalier about a "group" of humans as if they where nothing. Kinda reminds me of a fascist megalomaniac who was too obtuse with his own views to care about humanity! You can care about animals sure that’s all good and fine, you can care about the world yippy lets stop global warming. I was going to weigh in on this topic earlier today, especially in the context of the discussion that animals are far more innocent than humans but I see that since I first looked at it (about 3 posts in) it's gotten way out of hand and heavy...

So here's a bunny with a pancake on it's head.

Hmm.. since there are so many millions in the world oppressed by thier military style governements and forced to starve and live in poverty, you would all collectlively agree then that it would be ok to free these people from certain death? Invade thier countries? Overthrow thier rulers?

Oh.. we already tried that in the middle east. There are lots of you complaining about that too.

BTW, I still vote for saving the penguin before I would save most humans. I would even save a rabbit with a pancake on his head before most people.
