AND HERE'S SOME RELEASE INFO

Today, BI signed the publisher-deal with the socalled 505 games , which is behind the incredible bestseller-series such as The Bible Game, these fellars have, however decided to postpone the release of ArmA until 2007. ...This is the official press release:

505 Games signed a publishing agreement with Bohemia Interactive, to bring ArmA: Armed Assault to Europe, and reacquaint gamers with the ultimate in realistic, combat gaming. Armed Assault features a new engine with a fresh modern setting. Freedom of action and immersive complex environments, blended with a unique touch of total simulation. Armed Assault, published by 505 Games and developed by Bohemia Interactive, is scheduled for release on PC in first quarter 2007.

Update: Just had a word with Paul Statham (Placebo). It is only the 505-regions that are affected by the postpone. The game will be released in next month in the other regions.

If you haven't heard of 505-games, don't worry. Armed Assault will be their first PC-title - so let's hope they do a good premiere Smile

Well UPDATE time.

Country Publisher Date

Poland Lem 10/11/06

Slovakia BIS&JRC&CQE 10/11/06

Russia Akella 28/11/06

Austria Morphicon 30/11/06

Germany Morphicon 30/11/06

Switzerland Morphicon 30/11/06

EU&others 505 Games q1 2007 (See "Countries included on 505 distribution" section)

So i guess some english speakers in Europe have figured out how to get 50% of the text to be in english, while stil having foriegn dialogue. With no U.S. publisher of the horizon i'll probably end up buying Austrailian/UK copy in early 2007.

I've also added some in game screen shots from those who are lucky enough to understand czech/german.

Hate to be a pessimist, but it looks too good to be true. Hard to believe that a game can have large numbers of players, huge maps and that really long view distance--all at once. Something has to give, I just can see this running smoothly on any computer and server in existence.
Oh well, we'll see.

Wel lthe first preview from a gaming site i'm familiar with came out today. IGN (uk) got to do the basic Q& A but they also got some SPECTACULAR videos (IMO) the first is under about three and a half minutes long showing the environment ie (moving moon, shadows from trees, lighting) the second video is taken from the battlefield at soldiers takking out armor, AA guys crippling a HIND. a mess of attack helos being downed by Harrier AA missiles (great view of the whole island) gets me all hot n bothered!!
