How are we having trouble? We are dictating the pace of this current war. We are the ones decimating columns of Iraqi tanks who were running to try and avoid bombing. We are the ones who now control Umm Kasr. We are the ones who managed to get less than 50 miles from bagdhad in less than a week. Less than 50 casualties while taking this is small compared to the casualties of the Iraqi army.
The media is the grimly pessimistic ones who are just hammering on the war, and if that is where you are getting this quagmire that the US is bogged down in, then you are just plain wrong.

You are right, Belgium is there to stop us. Is that stupid enough for you?
Having problems? Hmmm, Belgium ever have a war with so much ground gained with so few civilian casualites AND military ones?
Thought not.
And it hasnt been "Us guys" trying to disarm Saddam for 12 years, it was the ineffectual UN (To which your country also belongs) So to make that statement puts yourself down. And you then have the audacity to call us stupid? You are seriously an amusing little fellow.

Silver I think Pyrite was stating that the US could take over the world, but it doesnt.
We have liberated many places in the world, most notably Europe. We could have claimed it, which in most wars of the past, the winning side usually did. We didnt, the only land the USA aked for, was land to bury our dead.
Silver we could destroy Iraq in 2 days, but that will go against everything that we are there for. We want to free the Iraqi people from a man that orders his henchmen to dress up in USA uniforms and kill its own soldiers that are trying to surrender. We are trying to free Iraqi people from a man that puts his ammunition in hospitals, his military next to schools and mosques, he puts his army in civilian clothes to fake surrender and open fire on our military, his army threatens any of his civilians that want to escape.

Well, I wasnt actually commenting on your ahem "Size", it was more of a simple expression.
Now perhaps you can explain what you mean by "i know we can't stop a country like you but we have influence in other country's and we have friends in the country's around us". Are you saying something akin to "I cant beat you up, so I will have my friends do it?"
I think you missed the entire point of Kristov's and my own post. We are not advocating the takeover of the world by the US (So no need to get your panties in a bunch), we are pointing out that the US has the raw power to do so, and doesn't. This was meant to elicit some thought. Thoughts like "Huh, if they can do that, then why dont they? Maybe it is because they at least try to do the right thing?"
Next time, try and look at such statements in similar vein, and not as some sort of adolescent penis measuring contest.

oops. Sorry bout that double post.

I guess we'll never know that, do we. And I'm happy for that.
You may consider yourself the strongest military force, but if the world combines his forces against the US, I'm pretty sure the US does not win.

Again, someone misses the point.

Floppy,
Try and get the entire world to combine and do anything at all as one is pretty much impossible. Oh wait, we already have an example of this, its called the UN.

That is where you are again mistaken. Only the patent arrogance of Europe could assume the US is all European. We have representatives from damned near every culture in the world.

EU/US Rift? What rift? The US has no quarrel with the EU. As I recall, it is only three EU members that are taking anti-US stands - France, Germany, and Belgium. In fact, most of the rest of the EU supports the US, including the UK, Spain, Portugal, the Netherlands, and Italy.
Also, it's very misleading to say that "everybody" hates the US. I'm sure if you took a poll in the world, many more countries have very favorable opinions and relations with the US than those that do not.
The question, then, is why do France, Germany, and Belgium dislike the US? It's a very simple answer, really. The time of Old Europe is over. Old Europe has lost its power and prestige (largely based on its various colonial empires), and has become irrelevant.
It's that irrelevance - the fact that their culture and their country doesn't matter anymore - is what drives them to loathe the US. The US doesn't need France, Germany, or Belgium for anything. They provide no crucial commodity or service. We don't depend on them for our defense. They don't matter. And it kills them.
That's why they hate the US.

First of all, Belgium does not hate the US, we just disagree with them on the Iraq topic. Thats all, believe me.

Did you know the 120mm main gun of your Abrams tank is German technology? So is the armor construction.
