It's headed that way because people are tired of buying the same crap over and over again. There are a few companies out there right now doing it, napster, itunes, rhapsody and one other I can't remember. You pay 9.99 for the album or .99 for a track and can download them indefinitely. My problem with that is what if I invest another 300 in the same damn music with itunes and the company folds?

I want to buy the track direct from a central governing body assuring that I FINALLY have a lifetime access to the produt I purchased.

They dug thier hole and now the cats outa the bag. They will need to define a better way to market thier product or they will be out big time.

Whats the rule on backing up music on different formats? I think everyone leans towards backing up software because you own the original copy. Now what if you have a cassette tape of say Siamese Dream from the Pumpkins. Can I in good faith DL the list from a source and burn a CD? Is it legal under the current rules? Do we have any attorney's in these forums!!!!!

Jaxstraww,

As I understand it, you are only purchasing the music in ONE format. Say if you purchased an album years ago and you want a CD now, then you have to BUY the CD again. You are NOT allowed to download the MP3's EVEN IF you own the album and can prove you purchased it!

BTW. That's one hell of a rig you have there.... well all except the monitor. :) LOL

Thanks--I bought the HP and gutted the whole thing it seems. Most of the parts I was able to resell. I actually run an emachine 17" and a compaq 17". Not sure of the model numbers. Dual support. I like having two going. Ventrilo and ASE on one and the game on the other. Saving for a 19 or larger CRT to game with. If I could do it again I would have just bought a mobo and case and gone from there. Hell, the power supply was removed for an ANTEC. Everyone rips on HP but I got a 865G chipset, DVD writer, cd rom, MX440 AGP8x, 120GB (5400)HD and 512 of PC2700 for $850.00. The only thing still stock is the mobo and CD rom. The DVD writer went from HP brand to Philips. The 5400rpm HD was sold and upgraded to a 120gb 8mb buffer WD caviar. The MX440 was sold on ebay also and I bought the 9800pro. So I have no idea where this post is going but this. Build your own computer if you got to have the shiznit. If you buy a bundle you will be ripping items out left and right. This is even getting dated. 875 chipset is out. 8x DVD writers are out. 9800pro went XT. Audigy2, you need the platinum or don't even talk sound with anyone. Now every HD manufacturer makes an 8mb buffer drive. 3.0 and higher processors are the norm. Only got this in September and look. Stop the madness. Someone, please stop the technology curve. PLEASEPLEASEPLEASE.
