Off topic, but don't go too far overboard - after all, we are watching...heh.

Ok, let me rephrase that.

We're supposed to be the civilized ones.

IMO, it's not a matter of whether or not the rest of the world likes us. They're not going to, not because of what we do, but because of what we are. The most wealthy, powerful, boastful and indulgent country in the world. So, that point is moot. Rather, what I had hoped is that we could stem the tide of American hypocrisy. What would we have done had that been a foreign power doing that to our POWs? We'd demand international justice. I say that the same standard should apply to our troops.

I too want justice, just a measured and reasonable justice that fits the crime. If a country did this to US soldiers, no one would give a sh*t. They wouldn't be charged with a crime.Instead we would be chastised for being to sensitive and hypocritical because we 'humiliate' people on a daily basis, etc.
If you turn over the US soldiers to the Intl Court, they would get severe, severe penalties. I would 20+ years, maybe worse. There isn't a non-biased view in the world court between it and America. Belgium wanted to try Tommy Franks as a war criminal. There can be no 'justice' America and the rest of the World. We have to punish the soldiers ourselves, rationally and reasonably.
I too am mad at the soldiers for feeding the world opinion's fantasies about us.

you dont want my opinion. That bs that our guys were doing .Is equal to Hazing . Stuff people do in High School and Colleges . Even more grotesque are the pictures of the dead and burnt Americans . Remember 9/11 .Remember all the good soldiers the moms and dads that have fallen to these animals .What we did was funny (those pics) . If you ask me why keep prisoners . Waste of money feeding them and everything else . War is so far out of context . No Rules .Kill or be Killed . Personally I'm a Member of the US Armed Forces . I've read some of these postings . Postings in a forum is all they are . Put yourself in this place . Join and do something for your country rather than criticize the entire country for a few peoples misstakes.I also will apologize if my opinion offends anyone.

I don't find anything about those pictures funny at all. Plain and simple.

There are lots of things that humans should not do to one another, and IMO, degrading someone who is a prisoner like this, is one of them.

Yes, I empathize with what TheBandit is saying, but I do not agree at all. Part of the problem today is that nobody has any respect whatsoever for one another, or for differences betwen religions, cultures, races, genders, whatever...

Like I said earlier, sometimes I am embarassed to think that other humans, like me, can do such vile and unimaginable things to other people. Unfortunately, I know that torture, killing and unthinkable abuses have always gone on, and likely always will.
