I think that we have to remember that the media (in this country at least) are giving Reagan's death more coverage than a commemoration of the D-Day invasion, not the invasion itself. The ceremonies in France commemorate history; Reagan's death is history. I don't think it was a tough journalistic call to decide which story to give more coverage, although I do wish they had struck a better balance.
