This is one those features I don't like. I hate having to take extra precious time to determine if someone is an enemy because there is a wide variety of looks, uniforms etc on the battlefield. I like one look for the enemy, and one completely different look for your allies. That's just me, I'm sure other people like the challenge, but I think it just leads to uneeded TKs and arguments.
