Off topic, but don't go too far overboard - after all, we are watching...heh.

I am not sure I buy that this is the earth trying to repair itself. it was an earthquke caused by the earth cooling. The crust sqeezes together and earthquakes result.
Global warming does not affect the cooling of the earth over time.
That video just doesn't appear to be that nasty if you know what I mean. I dunno it just looks like a flood. I wonder where it was shot. Some areas the wave was over 30ft high and travelling at 500 mph. This video just does not look like that.

I mean just look at all the wacky weather we have been getting lately, diseases are running rampant. And i hear Florida will be mostly a swampland in a decade or so. Don't like being morbid but these are the results of humanity destroying itself, the earth is just trying to fight back.
If that was the case, the Tsunami would have hit New Jersey!

yea, that's the video I was talking about.
It was taken by a Dutch tourist on the 13th floor of a hotel.
You can see the water through the restaurant, so I guess the flood was 'just' 5 meters high.
Nevertheless, it came unexpected and it wouldn't surprise me if a lot of children didn't survive this.

WOW!!! If NY and LA both go bye bye that would be unreal, thank god im in Illinois, I'm all the way in the middle.
The most annoying thing is news people dont know how to say the name of the wave, they always stumble and end up saying the silent T

there is something going on with the weather for sure....maybe they are right that we have done and continue to do, too much damage to the earth and the ozone...
40,00 + people is an awful lot. My wife cried when we watched the news last night...

Nope, it is just the Earth going through it's cycles.
They proved it when they found plants where the icecaps are melting, meaning that the Earth does freeze and dethaw like is currently happening.
Also the hole in the ozone has been in decline since the mid 90s, nothing to fear execpt that NewYork city will be under water as well as great Britian.

if you ask me, it's both.
If it isn't nature that destroys Earth, than it would be because of us.
So the biggest question of this century will be:
Will the Earth survive mankind?

the Earth will survive mankind.
To quote George Carlin, as much as i can remember, : "We are just annoying fleas to the Earth and the Earth can and will just shake us off like pests. Who are we, and how pompus are we to think we can affect this planet that has lived 4.5 billion years and has seen much worse than us?" Or something like that.

THe ice melting really isnt the scary thing about global warming. Even if none of the ice melted we would still be int trouble, just from thermal expansion of the oceans. All it takes is for that water to warm just a little bit and expand and we will have global flooding.

Those videos are amazing. The one for phuket is brutal.
The newst figures are 60k+ now with expectations that it may 100k very soon. The World health Organization says that diseases may DOUBLE the death count in weeks.
Absolutely unbelievable.
