Actually, the cap on visas will revert back to its statutory limit of 65,000 on October 1, 2003 if Congress does nothing to keep the temporary raise in place. Hopefully, we'll do the right thing - nothing.

I hope they leave it alone. While these extra 'forces' were needed at the turn of the millenia when jobs outpaced workers, with the down turn of the economy they are no longer neded.

Anyone in here a fan of "Star Wars"?
My brother ( aka Luke Wingwalker ) is giving away his "Star Wars Galaxies beta" buddy key in a contest.
If you want the key, email me at SWG@cs.wpunj.edu with the subject SWG and your ECGN username. The winner of the key will be chosen randomly from the emails.

Go ahead and vent Wairudo, the forums would suck if nobody ever vented anything. Rants rule! :D

I could talk about this jobs and immigration stuff at length, but frankly, it pisses me off to no end what is happening to the job market while those that are supposedly in charge sit on their hands. I personally think it's goind to get a lot worse until we as a country wake up to some realities and decide to do something about it.

Programs and touchy feely regulations are all well and fine until they start to impinge on people's jobs and their ability to produce efficiently. Until something drastic is changed, things will stay the same or get worse.

I didn't know anyone offered a degree in Counterstrike, is that a four year program? I wouldn't mind going back to school for BF.

Stephanie, don't feel bad about the grunt work. I've been delivering pizza for a couple of years now. My wife just got her bachelor's degree in CIS, so after she has the baby I will be a stay-at-home dad and going to college in the evenings. I'm really looking forward to it, but I imagine that I will be very tired (an understatement, I'm sure).:D

CS == Computer Science

One of my teachers was in to FPS, we used to play Counterstrike with him after class.

CS=Counter Strike :rotflmao:

Yes, there are many out here that know what CS or CIS stands for. Actually, I don't have a degree....one of the last of my kind that still works in the computer industry, making big bucks on skills learned over time.

Because of the industry changes, mostly since Y2K, that allowed cheap labor forces outside the country to be used as 'outsourced labor'....it's just not the work I want to do anymore. Many companies that you 'think' would use only in-country talent (like American Express) now use outsources in India and Singapore to do all their IT work. At first, the managment thought it would be cheaper to outsource work, now that the contracts are comming due, they're starting to bring back more local people. There are many good workers in India, Singapore and other places.....but there are other factors like communication differences and 'exact' documentations that make the costs of this labor force nearly double.....so there goes the cost savings.

Damn!!! sorry, got on a rant.
Screw the IT business!!! I'm thinking of buying a Subway's shop...or a Bar .....or a sheep farm....yeah!!!

:D
