Quotes:
The argument I see quoted most often is "When guns are made illegal, only criminals will have them". I used to say that also. It is not true. If a hired killer really wants a weapon, yes he will get it. But a very small number of murders are comitted by pros. Most murderers are amateurs, like teen gang members, who kill because they're stupid, they happened to have a gun in their pocket, and they wanted to show how manly they were. Another kid flashed a finger at them, and bang.
So it's OK they murder, just not with a gun.....knives, fists, baseball bats, ropes, cars, rocks, pushing off buildings, poison, pipe bombs....all these are OK, just not with a gun.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
"What is pathetic is you are making these stupid excuses for the right to own something specificly made to kill. How can you be proud to own something made to kill?"
Yes, it is a Right. Yes, I am proud to own them, and yes, I will kill to protect myself and family. Would you? Would would you do? Let me guess.....call the police LOL. It's obvious you are not a student of history either.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
"The strongest reason for people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government."
-Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334 (C.J.Boyd, Ed., 1950)
"The very atmosphere of firearms anywhere and everywhere restrains evil interference - they deserve a place of honor with all that is good."
-George Washington
"Germans who wish to use firearms should join the SS or the SA - ordinary citizens don't need guns, as their having guns doesn't serve the state."
-Heinrich Himmler.

Gun control works. Just ask the experts:
"Cause the registration of all firearms on some pretext, with the view of confiscating them and leaving the population defenseless." --Vladimir Ilich Lenin
"This year will go down in history. For the first time, a civilized nation has full gun registration! Our streets will be safer, our police more efficient, and the world will follow our lead into the future." --Adolf Hitler, 1935

In an ideal world, maybe. Whatever is posted here will be tainted with bias. Go yourself to any number of gun rights websites, pro or con. Read over them and see which makes more sense to you. A site that doesn't talk down to you is likely a good place to start. You'll want a site that doesn't insult the reader with overblown statitics, such as lumping suicides in with homicides.
Be careful, the snake-oil salesmen are everywhere, and unfortunately exist on both sides of the debate.

It is sad that people think they have the right to own one.
It is sadder that people think they are responsible enough to carry one.
LOL, I just had to reply to this one. LOL...sorry....hold on...have to wipe my tears.
I especially like "Knives, specifically made for killing, are banned.". Ummm, so what knives are made specifically for killing? Uhh, umm, so my very large butcher knife is OK? Or what about my pocket knife? No go?
Are you for real?
BTW, I don't THINK I have the Right, I have the Right. Where do you live?

Sorry, RCglider, but I think you need to check all those quotes for bogosity.
I'm all for the 2nd Amendment, but false quotes don't help.

Why should we be made to feel guilty for wanting to protect ourselves? I salute the work that police do, but the reality is that they do cleanup. They can't be everywhere at once. I want them cleaning up the asshole that tries to harm my family, not cleaning up my family. Having a fighting chance is infinitely better than having no chance...I would regret not being able to fight back.
Nothing personal, Silver.
With that spiel out of the way.......
I own a Ruger P89 9mm and a Winchester 1912 pump 16-gauge (not an easy shotgun to find info/history for).
And just so there's no misunderstanding:
There's not a damn moral thing wrong with owning firearms.
Period.
Yepper...I take mine out just to polish um up..oil down the shot guns...clean the pistols..take them out and target shoot...Yepper theres nothing better then that.
Heres Pies STATS:
S&W 44 mag stub nose..(for the intruders)
browning 22 pistol...(great for varments)
S&W 9MM semi auto (target pratice)
Shot guns:
Remington model 1100 (skeet)
Verona 12 gauge over and under (skeet)
Westernfield pump 12 gauge (computers that wont boot up)
Wow guess what doug...we do have another life...

The only one that is controversial is the one by Hitler. It has been for decades. The fact still remains, all guns were registered in Germany for a specific purpose, and it was not for the safety of the "people". Don't believe everything you read from guncite.com .
As for knives, I'd like to see the law in Ohio that states knives beyond a certain length is illegal. It may be illegal to conceal certain knives, but my 15" Bowie can slice carrots just as easily as a 15" kitchen knife.
It's strange how things have changed. When I was in elementary school (public school) it was no big thing to bring in Grandpa's old shotgun for show n tell, and carrying pocket knives weren't even an issue. Nowadays, get caught with a plastic butter knife and you're suspended or expelled. That's one reason why I don't send my kids to government school wastelands. Plus they'll get a better education for about 1/3 the cost.
To deter crime, we need more guns, not less.

Tell me the problem
you have with guncite.com. I appreciate the viewpoints of others when assessing a website's validity, as long as that viewpoint is honest/informed. I thought about citing the NRA website, but I'm sure some would just use that to paint me as some ignorant, right-wing, hate-mongering, bigoted, psycho gun-nut. I still can't believe the right to self-defense is even considered debatable.
