then by that reasoning, why have an offtopic forum?

if people want to talk about politics, why not let them? If people don't want to read about the specific topic, don't click the thread...

Regardless if they click or not, the content is there. There have been a disgusting amount of Political threads lately, and almost everyone contains flames.. so how is this one going to be different from the others?

You're not going to see the content of you don't click the link. If you don't want to read, don't click.

There have been a ton of political threads lately, which means many members here like talking about political issues. Maybe creating a "political forum" which is 'inside' the offtopic forum would be something that could be looked at.

Simply closing threads where people still want to get their point across will just make them start another thread later on so they can continue the discussion.
