According to the parts guy at AutoZone, siphoning gas has actually been a problem in this area in recent weeks. He said gas cap locks have been selling like crazy and the local news even had a short segment on it a few days ago.

I love how one of the gas stations called 'Lowest Price Gas' is actually one of the highest near you.

Heard from a guy who works for Exxon that gas prices will be at or over $4.75 by the end of the weekend.

You have Labor Day weekend, so they traditionally use that as an excuse to drive prices up. And then Hurricane Katrina's impact on the rigs in the Gulf of Mexico.

What kills me is that, for some reason, problems with the rigs have *immediate* impact on prices on the fuel that's already in the tanks. Yeah. Because THAT makes sense.

well, it kinda does. When the prices of fuel go down at the pump, we pay less. However, the station paid more for that last fill-up by thier distributor. Normally it's a wash., or pretty close to it.

You don't really need 4 wheel drive for the snow. I have a 2 wheel drive and I have yet to get stuck. You need driving skills. Front wheel drive is definitely preferable over rear wheel drive. The advantage a 4 wheel drive has is the height, as in, undercarriege clearance. I did have to shovel my car out rather than just driving over the Massive Hills of Snow last year. Many people who have four wheel drive SUV's don't respect the natural laws, like inertia. I've seen plenty of four wheeled drive vehicles in the ditch on the side of the road, rear ending someone in front of them because they couldn't stop or rolled over because they were going too fast.

i'm practically begging for an opportunity to get car. Right now absolutely have to have my SUV for work. I swear, there are many many days where i miss my Acura in the worst ways...
