Proctorville? Lol. Every state has little 'ville's like this, and they are all shit holes in all states.

You also only name two city's that you have been to in Ohio, which you say are not shit holes(however, Canton is a shit hole, it is the red headed step child of Akron).

Funny how you are from WV and claim Ohio is worse? LOL.

I am in Stow, about 20 minutes north of Akron, 50 north of Canton.

You just can't help being an asshole can you? Why do you have to be a prick to everyone? When you play online games(i don't know what you play) are you the guy TK ing and never helping teammates? You need to read the posts more carefully too...I said "I've never been anywhere, except the Canton-Akron area, in Ohio that ISN'T a shit hole." I have travelled all over Ohio by the way, King's Island was cool in my younger years and seeing the Reds play, but geez JT,take a break on being a prick. And you are correct on W.Va.,I'm not gonna be the asshole you are and disagree, the eastern part of W.Va. is a hillbilly haven(it's a beautiful state though),down right scary in those there parts actually(Deliverence) but the western part is nice and very civilized, they actually have gotten a bit modern and play 80's music only half the day now.:freak:

sigh...................

You need to read your posts before before posting them:

now my family (parents and brother) live there and Ohio is a shit hole, never been anywhere except the Canton-Akron area in Ohio that isn't a shit hole.Where you from anyway? I'm leaving tomorrow to Canton for a wedding.

Let me narrow it down further:

and Ohio is a shit hole

Fairly clear to me.

I am sorry I misread the part that you say Akron and Canton are the onyl shit holes in Ohio, but considering they followed directly after you said Ohio was a shit hole, i think it is obvious how easy it was to misread it.

BTW, Akron is very nice. They have done a very nice job on the downtown. The Aeros have a great ballpark there, with nice bars around it, and a new ampitheater. I prefer going there now than going to Cleveland. The Akron Aeros won the AA Chanmpionship, and they are the AA team to the Indians. The Indians are stacked with talent, from short season rookie league to AAA. Can't wait for 2005 when they will be gunning for the WS ring with one of the best rotations in baseball.

Also, Ohio is host to the Rock Hall, the Football hall(why is it in canton, though?), and what is ranked as the best amusement park in the world(Cedar Point), along with some very large sports teams. While I am no NFL fan, the browns have been a mainstay in football for years, with large draws for every game. The indians have had great success since Jacobs and Hart fixed the team. Dolan and Shapiro will be doing it even better. OSU football-enough said. Mount Union, the best non-Division 1 football in the country(and for years).

Not to menion some killed bike trails for those that love mountain biking as I do(or I did, until I ripped my front left collar bone from my shoulder). Of course when i lived in Colorado, the bike trails were insanely better.

After college I left for a bit(Colorado and California). I soon noticed how much Ohio had going for it, especially north east Ohio. I am glad I moved back, there is so much to do here compared to other places in the world. The only bad thing is the freaking winters.

There ya go....where you live is nice, and everywhere else I have been in Ohio is a shit hole,we got that straight...my cousin, the one getting married at Glenmoor CC off I-77 exit 109b, went to Jackson HS i believe, that sound right? You probably know the area a whole lot better then I,Glenmoor is right down the rd. from Massilon Hospital (Rt 241/Wales Rd.) and the reception is at some place called "Lolli's"...My wife and I were going to Cleveland on friday to see the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame but we decided to not leave until friday cause of the hurricane situation...anyway,i'm rambling,I knew you could be nice though JT...:D

Well, now i am down right confused. That is what i figured you said to begin with, then you said it wasn't, and I needed to read your post better.

Canton is a shit hole, it is where the those that can not afford Akron live.

The rest of the area around it is fairly nice. But like all areas, you could be driving down a road in a nice area, then cross that one road, and everything becomes shitty all of a sudden.

Right, and see he's been to them all, so he knows. However you mask words to form a cheap stab at someone, this is pretty lame. I mean even for you.

Jimmy, you have some very good points. I admit, France is a weak example, because it was in turmoil at the time. But the situations in both Germany and Rome are possible futures for America. Another Great Depression could easily lead to the rise of an ultra-right-wing, nationalist, protectionist movement. We have the seeds for this in our society right now, they are just extremely marginalized. As for the Roman example, that portends a future much farther off, but not unforseeable.

The reason the framers feared democracy (versus republican government), is that they recognized that the majority will too readily give away its authority to a charismatic leader. Republican (the form not the party) government protects the ability of minorities to delay and mitigate the majority will. The point is that these things develop very slowly, and won't happen until the circumstances are right, but they can happen. To prevent that we need to provide the counterbalance in national politics.

Doug provides an excellent example that soldiers will do what they are ordered to, because they believe it is the right thing to do or because it is part of being a professional soldier to follow orders. I am in the military. If I was ordered to attack fellow Americans, I would question it, but I would do my job. That's part of the culture of a professional fighting force, and it is a necessity. A military that is willing to disobey their civilian leaders is more of a threat than the alternative.

Do I see this happening any time in the near future? NO. But I take the long-term position that unless we protect our rights to firearms, there may come a day when we need them and find they are inaccesible.

BTW, to respond to the original question, I don't own a firearm. Spent the money on a new computer. :D Planning on getting a couple one of these days...

Um, that 'cheap stab' at someone was in reply to being a possible accidental child rapist. Which I, of course, even pointed out when I posted it.

Pudrik,

As a person in the military, you should have learned what orders you do not need to follow, and will not be punished for not obeying.

I must admit it's refreshing to see you actually trying to speak a language other than 'assholese.' This makes me think you may actually answer a question pertaining to this comment:

What does population size have to do with anything? You must admit that no matter where you go in this country you will find hicks/slackjaws/hillbillies. You're in denial if you think a large population means no rubes.

Maybe I went too far with the "accidental" crap but you were the one who used the existence of pedophiles to help explain why a gun might be used wrongly, or accidentally. If I went too far then you had crossed that line already.

"Accidental" was to imply that WE are ALL "Potential"...I wasn't just calling you one, but calling everybody one, to illustrate the point. I apologize if you took it as more than that.

I no longer really care and am therefore willing to abandon this little lover's quarrel. We both have better things to do, or at least I know I do.

No way? Really?

Oh yeah, I pointed that out already. Gee, you would have thought that might ring a bell in that thick skull of yours.

In no way was it ment to explain shootings. What it was(and clearly), is how not ready humans are for the responsibility to possess a gun. This has also been explained, and you have also continued to ignore this.

Jimmy - shut up.

You made your point, and made it about fifty times now. I'm neither saying I agree or disagree with your position regarding the ownership of guns. I just cannot handle reading anymore.

But as to the original topic of the thread:

Kimber Tactical Pro Carry .45
Kimber Ultra Ten II .45
Kimber Match .45

I love 1911's. Someday I'll consider carrying something other than a .45. Then again, maybe not.

Thu Sep 18, 2003 7:44 am

Nah. Just because I am on the otherside of the fense as you*, and your pals on your side do the same thing, doesn't mean i need to shut up.

*You are not saying you agree or disagree with gun ownership, then name 3 guns you currently own, and a fourth you might want to own. Come on, not hard to tell.

Thu Sep 18, 2003 8:32 am

He said he wasn't agreeing or disagreeing with YOUR position regarding ownership. There's a big difference. I would think that someone with such self-exclaimed brilliance (condescending manner in which you talk to people) would be able to easily discern such obvious semantics.

Do I have to spell it out? Someone may agree or disagree with you but for different reasons than you state. I hope that was stated simply enough.

Thu Sep 18, 2003 10:52 am

I hope this is simple enough for you: he disagrees since he owns guns, and is looking to own another.
