Hi all! I am new to this board, and would like to chime in with some of my opinions:
1) There are medical effects with both marijuana and alcohol. A quick Yahoo search produced the following links.

http://corp.aadac.com/programsservices/developments/vol16_issue2.asp
It is opinion as to which one is better.
2) It is also personal opinion as to what is the best country toi live in. After saying that, I should say that I'm an Amercian, and proud to be one.
3) There has been no draft in this country for about 30 years. And even if a country doesn't have a draft per se, in the case of a world war, each country would have to provide its fair share of soldiers. Don't be surprised if the government has a contingency plan for a draft in case of one.
4) All of the economies of the free world countries are inter-linked. There must be inflation.
5) There is no free lunch. Great welfare = great taxes. And food stamps are a form of welfare.
6) Legal weed, hookers, police restrictions all come down to your value system. I would feel uncomfortable with a max prison term of 20 years for violent criminals.
7) I would expect the US to be in the top 3 for real salary per capita. And there is a wide spectrum of housing choices in virtually all developed countries.
Not busting anybody's balls - just my opinions.

I agree with the vast majority of your post Off. Especially, your views on what makes a country great.
I just have to take issue with the statement above. The website here promoting marjuana use was obvioulsy done by someone who does not have much of an understanding of medicine or science in general. Their claims about the usefulness of marijuana medically are laughable. The AADAC group at least has medical backing. Between the two, which one is better and more accurate is not a matter of opinion, it's a matter of fact.

Well the great thing about America is Tool can have an opinion like that and not get hassled for it. Personally, I am the most patriotic kid you have ever met. I know everything about this country from 1776 to 2002. I am proud to be an American and will stand up and die for my country if needed.
p.s. Glad to see the ratio has evened a bit

no it doesnt bring down value's...dutch people never go to the red light district..only american's and english do..so do a lot of other tourists.
that the police cant seach me or my car is just a freedom that i have..and i dont want it changed...because i dont wanna live in a police state/country...
Soft drugs are a grey area over here...there illegal and not..there legal and..not...u can smoke it indoors or in a coffeeshop..also on the street but then the police will ask u to put it out..and continue smoking in side...
Doesnt everyone..even the most shitty outback land think he lives in the better part of the world?????....
yeah 20 years is the max prison you can get..but after that u will be at disposel of the goverment or psyg...for the rest of your live...And they make sure that you dont do shit..
But you are right when you say prison is light over here..i AGREE it is..they shouldt raise the max sentence...but there are a couple of drawbacks..
1) More Tax money needed
2) less change if he/you come out of prison of starting a normal live..not falling back in old pattarn
there are 80 murders in this country a year..thats nothing compaird to some other country's..and all are criminal related..no drive by's no gangs..people are save here in any part of town.......
