is that the only problem you are having? If it is, maybe you need to clean your BF disc. When mine was dirty, it wouldn't install certain files and my install was corrupt.

Same here. If the disk wasn't spotless it complained of corrupted files. BTW, I use window cleaner and wipe from the inside edge to the outside edge.

Yeah I've had installations go nuts because of dirt. I dunno about using window cleaner on it though. O_O

I ussually just take a soft clean cloth and gently rub it from the inside edge to the outside edge.

Possibly a failing cd drive as well (although not as likely). Try cleaning the disk. If that doesn't work , use Animal's install cds, but enter in your cdkey (the key isn't tied to the cd itself, so this works fine). If it fails on his cd as well, I'd suspect either a corrupted O/S (somehow) or hardware (cdrom, cdrom cable to mobo, or mobo itself).

umm....window cleaner is probably bad for the disc, btw. Might eat away at it. Just use water (or good ol spit). The 2 keys are to make sure you use a very soft cloth (so you don't scratch it more), and to wipe from the center of the disc OUT to the edge, not in a circular pattern......

Just hope your CD doesn't fragment inside your drive.

OMG I had that happen before. was scary as hell. left a burning smell and had to buy a new cd drive. :(

I finally got it to work this morning. I tried using my disks with her cd key all to no avail. I cleaned the hell out of it, still didnt work. I did a little research and found that sometimes cd-w's sometimes have problems like this, so I dug up an old 24x cd rom and installed it and still got the same error. I just about put my hand thru the monitor at that point. I tried it again and it worked. I hate computers.

Thanks for all the help fellas.

worst case senario you could have made the images of the cds on a working pc and then transfered them over to her PC and mount them and install that way

It could be that your cd is getting old. Just a though but the pit/lands do eventually fade out. Look about the warranty on sucjh thing or make a copy of your cd. (fir your own personal use of course)
