My morning with a baseball player
Ok here is my story...
A friend calls me asking if I want to go play trombone for sick children at "Cardinal Glennons Children Hospital". Of course I say yes, pack my bone and am on my way to the hospital. When I arrive, to my surprise, a baseball player from the St. Louis Cardinals is there. So Taguchi!
I met him in person and shook his hand. He english is rough, but understandable. It was a pretty cool experiance. The best part about it was that he spent a whole morning signing autographs, playing kickball, and going up to sick childrens rooms and saying hello.
As for me...I might of been on the local news playing the bone, but we all sucked so bad I hope they didn't put us on!
For more info on him...here is an article about him two years ago

My first thought when reading the title of this thread was "I don't want to hear about Jeffro's sexual escapades" but I didn't want to hack on what could have been a cool experience for you.
But I couldn't resist when I read the line:

I'll have to agree w/ Ingus on this one.
Read the title and imagined the body being something like:
But in all seriousness, that's cool. Happy you had an adventurous morning. Only thing noteworthy that happened to me this morning was a guy with a huge "SS" tattoo asked me if I had any spare change.

Taguchi also saved the game for the cards the other day by hitting the game tying home run and robbing a deep shot in left at wrigley.
Cubs Suck. Go Cards.
That man is Soooo Taguchi.

Yeah but you guys took one of are top minor leaguers and we won't even be able to afford Beltran this off-season:(. He's just a half-season rental for us. Well that's what we get for having budget minded owners.....

Exactly. That Srienbrenner's got money out the wazooo. I want to be that rich . To bad the Royals and other small market teams will never be able to compete for top players
Big negative on that one. ALL pro sports owners have money out the wazoo. Its just to Steinbrenner its not about business, its about winning.
All those teams out there on the bottom end of the MLB payrolls are owned by Billionaires. Its just most of them are focused on bottom line instead of winning.
Not a Yankees fan but I respect Steinbrenner.
Carl Pohlad owns the Twinkies and they are one of the lower payroll teams in MLB and almost suffered contraction a couple of years ago. He owns several banks and is worth over 1 BILLION dollars.
So no pity parties for so-called "small market" teams. Piling up cash is more important to them than a pennant.
Jerry Jones of the Dallas Cowboys once said something along the lines of "If you can't prove your teams in the red you don't deserve to own a pro sports franchise"
"They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety." ... Benjamin Franklin
