AVP Impressions

Postby oxy » Fri Aug 13, 2004 3:41 am

I just got back from a showing of AVP, and let me tell you guys, this movie is bad ass.

Yeah it had its faults here and there. For example:
1)No Colonial Marines
2)Bad acting
3)Really awkard moments with a predator teaming up with the black chick. Oh man, and the sexual tension between them at the end? God wtf was that?

Besides that crap, the movie was awesome. As you would expect, it was all about the Aliens VS the Predators. OMGGGGGGGGGG every moment of those scenes were orgasmic.

I can't leave out the fact that Sigourney Weaver was not in the movie, but the dude who played Bishop was. (he played Mr. Weyland.) Praise dah lord!

Go watch the movie. It's good.

I got the chance to watch it yesterday night and overall I thought it was a good entertaining movie. My only gripes were that it was a little short and could have been fleshed out a bit more. One of the most amusing things was that the audience chose sides and it was like rooting for a home team or something people were cheering when their side won a battle. Annoying and amusing at the same time.

If your the so called 'sophisticated I'm better then you type' you'll probably snub it. But if your just looking for a little entertainment and you like aliens or predators you'll find something to enjoy. I'm a big Predator fan so I was happy.

Finally as for PG-13 yeah it is but if the blood was red instead of green it would be R. Similar as to how games can have people killing other people in violent means and get a less severe rating then games that show a boob.

I'll agree with mighty on why it was PG-13. Human deaths weren't very graphic.

That doesn't mean the movie wasn't violent. Hell no, I liked that equilibrium-type shot where the predator chopped off the Aliens face and you could see its brains and everything. It was gorgeous.

I suppose you can have all the voilence of that sort you want as long as its not happening to a human with red blood.

I'll see if as soon as I can round up a posse of friends to go. The fact that it's PG-13 isn't going to stop me- a movie doesn't need to be R to be awesome. I figure there isn't as much language and human violence as the past movies. I mean look at Alien Resurrection: It was rated R and sucked.

It's the same guy who did Mortal Kombat, Resident Evil, Soldier, and Event Horizon. Out of all that, I only liked Mortal Kombat..

But, from trailers this looks promising.

It has a couple moments where you're wondering "wtf is this", but I think its worth seeing. Hell, I'd go again.

It is a nice one time flick. Few pathetic moments.

I was very surprised at how good it was. I liked it a lot. it tied a lot of things together from the game and movie storylines. Predators don't attack weak or unarmed opponets, Weiland with his pen playing (See Bishop in 'Aliens' who Weiland was the model for), the Aliens being the ultimate prey..

In the books, the predators took a human as a hunter, female. I see that tying into sequels.

Awesome. They did a good job on this flick.

so...the predator won right
as far as i can tell, seccondary jaw cant bite through armor and acid blood seems to be only advantage but only at a disadvantage
plus, best week ever reports predator is jamacian which means he was high at the fight. idk man but i think the jamacian with armor is gunna win.

I think one of the predators was wearing a kilt-like thing. He could be scottish instead of jamaican. During the whole sequence with the Aztecs, they should've showed the predators in Scotland. It would explain the kilts, the and the William Wallace look.
