:) I'm already playing. Hopefully there'll be some tweaks and fixes, but I'll likely continue to play once it's released.

Me and Folic had been playing the beta.

I am very dissapointed with the game. The more I play the more things I miss from T2.

Like some have said, its more like a MOD for ut2004 then a new tribes game. Someone that has never played tribes may like it, but don't go in expecting it to be anything like tribes at all.

First gripe is that both teams now have a radar that shows where EVERY player on the server is located. Friend and Foe. You can take out the radar, but it can be fixed in a matter of seconds. It not only shows you a dot on you map, its a different icon for each armor type, vehicle, and deployable.

Deployables: there are only 4. Thats right.. FOUR.. Turret that can only be placed on level ground, no attaching to walls etc. Mine, you can only carry one at a time. Repair station. Inventory station.

Heavy armor can still use the mortor, but there is no longer a targeting system. Its now a LOS weapon.

I am really starting to wonder if I will buy this when it comes out :(

Can ECGN setup a T2 server for us? :D

I have to agree with Mugzy about my feelings about the game. It looks pretty, but it doesn't have the same feel that T1 and T2 had.

To me, it's much faster-paced, and focuses less on tactics than the other two games did. There's no benefit in hiding your mobile spawn, since you can always be seen on the radar. There aren't any heat-seeking missiles. There aren't any of the best deployables - sensors, motion detectors, clamp turrets. You can't change your base turrests from one type to another. The vehicles are MUCH too fast and nearly useless. And, worst of all, you can really on have up to 24 players on a server before it starts to lag.

I'm hopeful that there'll be a T2 mod for the game, to restore some of its original glory, but with the low player limit, even that may not be worth it. :(

I'm pretty much in agreement with Mugzy. I'll probably get it when it comes out, but I'm looking forward to mods that are better than the original. Maybe someone will make a Tribes 2 mod of it? That would be great. T2 is my favorite mulitplayer game...so much you could do with it.

Only recently got my hands on the beta... I am not a big fan of the radar showing EVERYTHING, but I have to believe that it is just something that will disapear before the game goes gold. The game looks damned pretty, enough so that my frames are making me cry (thus I have an x800 pro on the way). Haven't played enough yet to comment on gameplay and etc, but I expect to get some time in soon.

As some of you know I am also a vet of the original Tribes and T2, as is {CN} many of us are hoping to get back together for the game, so the odds are good that I am gonna pick it up on release. In game nick will be my old school {CN}Doomfarer, see you guys when I see you!

I liked Tribes and Tribes 2, especially how you had several options about the radar.

1 go around, outside it's effective zone, maybe hop up a few mountains to not be detected.

2 destroy the radar and camp it so your teammates don't have to go through the mountains to not be on radar.

(On T2 katabatiik I would take a tank up to the radar, kill it and camp it, don't ask me how hard it was getting up the mountains to it, lets just say very hard)

Missles were awesome. I also liked the seige mode.

I would sit with medium armor, missle launcher, grenades, heavy plasma and mines. Occasionally I would instead use a mobile inventory and deploy turrets. Wait for their mobile spawn to pull up (as defender) nail the guy driving it after he gets out. toss a few mines ontpo the mobile spawn and then shoot it with heavy plasma, instant roasted mobile spawn. :)

Without the mobile spawn the enemy couldn't win, I would always stay as agressive while defeindg as possible, always try to keeop them from getting in while everyone else is pulling back the the generators or something.
