I play airsoft with my friends some times. It is just like paintball but with realistic looking guns and instead of paintballs, there are little plastic bb's. The guns are very realistic like you reload with magazines and they are heavy like a real gun. It doesn't hurt from far away unless you get hit in the right spot by a sniper. But from close range it can really sting. That guy will hurt for a couple days...

I did... I took a shot from a Tippman A-5 from about 5-feet away. That gun is really powerful. I had a black and blue welt for a week...

Ah, you kids are lucky. In my day, when someone wanted you to have a welt, they just walked up and punched you. ;)

No, the gun isn't very powerful at all, its the velocity he was shooting at. Judging that you had a welt for over a week it was probably over 300 fps (feet per second), the legal limit at most fields. A $40 paintball gun shooting 300 fps from 3 feet away will hurt just as much as a $900 paintball gun shoointg you at 300 fps from 3 feet away. Tippman's are reliable, you can run over them with a semi and they'll still be shooting. Can't say the same about their preformance.
This is just a common misconception I hear everytime I go play paintball, atleast twice a month..... for three years now.
littlekid: omfg look at his gun, its electric thats really going to hurt......
me: sigh....

Yeah. The Tippmann A-5 is about $300. We weren't playing at a organized arena or anything, we were playing for fun during the weekend in the cornfields behind his house so he had his velocity up to max.

It sounds funny but there is no hiding from that. When you have the velocity up all the way, it rips through dry corn stalks like nothing.

i got 5 or 6 guys in a game last year with a tippman 98 custom. me and my flatline barrel. took em all out in one game from about 100yds away. if you get a 98 custom, the flatline barrel is essential.

Except when you see the ball coming slowly floating towards you at that distance, happened many times to me before. ;)
