It's simple. Watch after your children and don't let them watch the program!

What is this country turning into... :(

Well, it's not the whole country...just a few stations that are refusing to air the movie.

The station here in Wichita is going to show it. The same thing happened when Schindler's List came to TV as well.

But I'd have to agree that most American's in general are way too uptight about a lot of this. Pay attention to what your children watch. I know I do...

What? Are you completely out of touch?

They are not airing it because of the FCC could fine them with the way the conservatives are using the FCC as their weapon of christian morals.

They even have requested an advance waiver, and the FCC refused!

Good call, Jimmy. The current trend in FCC sphincter-puckering is the result of conservative outrage, not liberal.

Censorship comes from both sides of the spectrum, liberal (ie Univeristy speech codes) and conservative (ie deceny laws).

Then why was the FCC never like this until this administration, when Michael Powell(Colin's son) was made Chairman?

Under Powell, the policies that have been in use for decades have been thrown out the door and they go by their version of them.

Why is it hard to understand that political threads aren't allowed here?

BTW. Answer: Superbowl halftime show of 2004...

There is no evidence that the current FCC trend is a function of Liberalism, there is probably more evidence exactly the oppisite. For example, the last sentence of the article.

Who watches this stuff on the networks anyways. With cable and satellite, its really a problem for folks who cannot afford these services or chose not to subscribe.

I realized this week that many will never understand it and will continue with them. Why not rebut while the thread is still open.

It didn't even start out as political. Until the evil liberal tv stations came about.

What are you all talking about? This isn't a political thread. It's about the FCC and how they are trying sit on us with this censorship...

I really don't consider this in the category of "Politics or Religion"...

What are you talking about?! Liberal?! Read this article about it: http://money.cnn.com/2004/11/11/news/fortune500/savingpvt_ryan/index.htm?cnn=yes

I quote: "Affiliates in Alabama, Georgia, Iowa, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina and West Virginia said they were worried about running afoul of the Federal Communications Commission in Washington."

With the sole exception of Massachusetts, those states are all looking pretty conservative to me... More censorship goes against the very definition of the term "liberal." Thank god you're not old enough to vote, and In case you didn't know, here's the Oxford Dictionary for you...

liberal

• adjective 1 willing to respect and accept behaviour or opinions different from one’s own. 2 (of a society, law, etc.) favourable to individual rights and freedoms. 3 (in a political context) favouring individual liberty, free trade, and moderate reform. 4 (Liberal) (in the UK) relating to the Liberal Democrat party. 5 (especially of an interpretation of a law) not strictly literal. 6 given, used, or giving in generous amounts. 7 (of education) concerned with broadening general knowledge and experience.

• noun 1 a person of liberal views. 2 (Liberal) (in the UK) a Liberal Democrat.

— DERIVATIVES liberalism noun liberality noun liberally adverb.

— ORIGIN originally meaning suitable for a free man: from Latin liberalis, from liber ‘free man’

This is not about poiltics, its about lunatics... this really pisses me off, that our kids can learn about Pokemon bullshit all day, but when it comes down to learning about our countrys history... its not suitable for them? Kids need a wake up call early (Im talking 10 and over) to realize that this world is not all cupcakes and candy canes...

I'd be willing to bet that if you asked the majority of americans what they thought the defenition of liberal was, your answer would not be so positive.
