Stop Blondes Jokes!
Hungary's blonde women - both real and not so real - want to see blonde jokes officially banned by the national parliament.
They have staged angry protests outside the parliament.
They have handed in petitions to parliament stating they are being discriminated against in every walk of life by bad taste blonde jokes, while their compatriots outside waved banners reading, "We're blonde, not stupid' and "Love us for our minds."
"Blondes face discrimination in the job market, in the workplace when they get a job, and even on the streets," said Zsuzsa Kovacs, spokeswoman for Hungary's Blonde Women's Movement. "People are banned from discriminating against Jews, or blacks, so why not grant blondes the same protection."
A copy of the group's petition was handed to Hungary's Equal Opportunities Minister Kinga Goncz, asking her to investigate whether jokes about blondes fall into the same category as religious discrimination. Goncz's deputy who spoke to the crowd pledged the government would act to stop any discrimination.
Things were going pretty well for the anti-blonde-joke campaigners until last week, when Hungarian police revealed that they turned violent in a protest outside a bar just minutes after turning in their petitions.
Why would anti-blonde-joke campaigners single out one Hungarian bar? Because it is called "Blondy".
Things got a little out of hand when Blondy's staff tried to get the protesters to move on.
"Our bar is a new one and we didn't want to cause any offence with the name," said bar manager, Laszlo Bolyocki. "But when we tried to get rid of the protestors they turned violent, and threw cakes and eggs at the windows and urged their blonde sisters working here to go on strike."
Blonde Women's Movement founder Krisztina Timar, 29, said: "This bar was using dumb blonde jokes to promote itself. It's thanks to stunts like this that people look down on us - and we have much worse chances of getting a job."

Yes, this incident did indeed turn ugly. Rumor has it that several of the blonde protestors met their unfortunate demise. One of them had thrown a grenade into the premises, hoping to kill some of the occupants inside. Consequently, one of those occupants pulled the pin on the grenade and threw it back.
