Are you the type of professor who only has about two tests a semester to determine your grade? :ar15:

That's normal behavior here, but I prefer to forego the mid-semester test and replace it with 6 mini-tests equally distributed in the semester. It's better for students, and also it forces them to prepare every week instead of cramming.

I also give 3 assignments which are quite a bit of work. So the grades are calculated on:

30% mini-tests
30% assignments
40% final exam

Ahhh but there's a catch: you can't get a passing grade based on assignments. If you don't get 60% on your tests and exams, you're toast. We call this the blonde filter.

Man that's brutal...:(

Glad I'm going to a private university...:D

(I'm not sure if you teach on a public campus or not, but I'm going to a liberal arts college so I don't have to take as many core classes! )

Just imagine, 4 years of high school, 4 years of college, 2 years to get your masters and ummm 80,000 dollars in stupid loans. After searching for a job for 2 years working at sheetz or McDonalds for 7.50 an hour. I chose to go 2 years of Art Institute of Pgh, 1/2 semester of college, $0.00 dollars of student loans, Worked at same company for 11 years @ average 35,000 a year then, becoming a salesman for 9 months @ 45,000 a year, promoted to Branch Marketing Manager @ 85,000 a year, and going into my second year with a bonus coming in March of 2005 for 32,000, and my Branch Manger getting ready to retire in 2006 he is at about 150,000 a year, ummmm my next step u figure it out, my vote is take the chance and learn some skills, take some time at a good stable job and screw those tests, I laugh every week to the bank. But hey u guys study for those test!!!! :)

I'm sorry but society has really pushed 4 years of college is the key to the future, but at 85 percent of high school students going to college after high school, and the job pull getting smaller and smaller, why not just show the people skills you learn thru life, and push your way into better and better jobs. If you have those people skills and a nack for selling that is a very good way to skip college, I have guys 20-25 years old as sales guys making an average of 50,000 a year. Lets see you guys go to school for 4 years and have a student loan payment for 10 years of about 300 dollars a month, making an average of 25,000 a year. Ummm a new car payment of 300 a month, rent for 500 a month, and misc bills at about 300 more a month plus utilities and don't forget car insurance.....congrats u got a 4 year degree and have about 500 bucks a month spending money, feel like eating roman noodles and spag. everyday???? I feel college is a good place to learn time management, but you can learn that by working with me for 3 days, and I won't even charge you. By the way I'm hiring!!!!!

ps I still love ya Doc!!!
