Best video cards.
I've been looking around, and I'm still trying to decide which new video cards are better.
I'm talking about similarly priced card, so the x80XT platnium edition is a couple hundred dollars more expensaive than the 6800 GT. What do you guys think about it?

I was going to say if you had a 9800, what till start of summer/ fall, but since your have a 9700,
Here where my thoughts on what one of two card will get me by for the next 12+ months

I'd go for the PNY, it has faster bandwidth.
If you want to spend over 300 well you're better of going with teh long- term 6800 GT.
But still both those two card are faster than my 9800, and your 97........... so its your budget.
Ow yes, if you are not giong to be gaming on a 19/20 inch monitor, 1600 x 1200, then your going to NEED a high end video card, i play 1024 x 768 20 inch, and it is alright.
Just not a higher resolution?
You want to dish out more than 300 for a video card, then get a high end, if 3 is your limit, get one or those.
Maybe more ram if you do not have a gig or it.

6800GT is by far the best bang for the buck. if you find an ATI x800pro VIVO, you can unlock the 4 disabled pipes which will give you a fully functional X800 XT Platinum Edition card. but it's only with the VIVO pro's.
if i were you, i'd spend the money on the 6800GT. they kick the x800pro's ass

Yes, that is what I thought. But I dind't want to put it into my first post and look like I was taking sides. =|
lol, it's ok to take sides i guess. ATI had the far superior card last generation, and they're pretty much tied this one. it's just that the 6800GT is overall a better card than the x800 pro, so no use spending the same amount of money on something a little slower.
